Skybridge KLCC

I know.. I know.. pasal Sarawak pun haven't updated and even our Alumni dinner pun blum. Ntah bile la nak update, jadik basi je nnt.. mau pulak next week (not up coming, but the week after) we'll be going for the Geomatics Camp in Teluk intan (?) for a week with the 2nd year students. Next Sunday will go with Zabidi utk survey² sites la kot (sy nak jalan je haha.. Zabidi lagi tahu kan pasal keje² ni!)

Nway, I have a good reason for no update on the dinner sbb kene mntk gambo from abg Fauzi or Sham first. I had my worthy phone with me (biarpun tadek flash :p) but tadek mase nak ngamik gambo nye..

So I'm gonna talk about what we did the next day ☺

Fared had arranged for some of us to visit the skybridge @KLCC. It was kinda exciting for me as

1. I'm NOT a KLite so tak pernah la jejak kannn

2. I'm a civil engineer.. duh!

So to those who ade hati nak comment secare bertulis, "Bkn ade ape pun skybridge tu.." or anything yg sewaktu dgnnye, sile 'swallow' those comments okay sbbnye to us yg pergi, even those yg mmg from KL, we kinda 'ooohh'ed and 'aahh'ed at the video the showed us on the construction of the Twin Towers and how the double-deck skybridge was 'nailed' between the towers.

As usual, a few pictures were taken la kan but I don't have them with me now hahah.. only managed to take a few pics as my phone agak la meragam jugak kan time tu.

We started from our hotel around 10.45am. Lucky for us, it was within walking distance sahaje so at least we had a chance to burn SOME of the calories obtained from the dinner the night before.. aci ke? Arriving there, we went around the exhibition room where the said video was being showed and the whole lot of us watched it mcm tengok blockbuster film hehe.. engineer nerds as we were la kan! I actually took a picture of almost the whole group watching it dgn sgt tekun (Dr Taksiah and Dr Choong akan berase sgt bangga okay!) but its in Dayah's camera la pulak.. lupe nak mntk!

Then, after being 'let in', we were shown yet another video on the skybridge but kali ni in 3D. There's a picture of us in the 'mini-theatre' you can see in Mas's blog. Yup, ALL in that picture were 'delegates' from the School of Civil Engineering ye ☺

Finally, we were ushered into a lift that would take us to the 40-something floor where the skybridge was situated..

..and the view was breathtaking (excuse the phone camera, k! ☻)

I took another picture but turned out the file was unreadable (and I only found out LEPAS kitorg dah turun.. sheesh!) Sgt cantik okay.. kalau la Hasrul ke Faizal ke Mazlan ke ade time tu, konpem camera mereka tidak akan berhenti snap!

We even got to see the 'pencuci tingkap' @work heheheh.. selalu tgk dlm tv je kan. Kinda seronok la pulak to see that this is an actual occupation and not one that you can only wonder about ☺

The skybridge span takde la panjang sgt.. beberape puluh meter shaje I think and there were no 'hotspots' to take pictures at. But since dah ade kat sane je kan, layan je haha.. since I'm from Penang/Perak, Salleh from Perak, Arep and Dayah from Johor, Sya from Pahang and Ija yang paling jauh from Sabah didn't think we'd ever come back here pun kan, musti la kene amik gambo, right! Hahah..

Had a good 20 minutes je pun up there but it was enough for us. At least we learnt something that day kan. Seronok pun seronok, knowing yg takdenye nak saje² pegi naik kannn so thanx to Fared for giving us 'school residents' a chance to go up there!

And yes.. dah nak balik pun sempat lagik bergambo with Ija and here ever-ready pose anytime anywhere hehe..

Saat termalu sendiri..

Actually I have a few entries yg perlu dipublish but due to the malas-nak-tempek-gambo syndrome as well as the bile-dinner-ni-nak-selesai fever, its staying unpublished for now hahah..

Anyway, today is a very tiring day. Tak abis with the last minute preparations for the alumni dinner tomorrow but at least my part byk dah settle rasenye. So I was sitting in front of my PC, wondering if I should go home and get ready for my class or if I should try to upload the Sarawak photos.. then suddenly I remembered something that happened yesterday.

I didn't really want anyone to know about it, malu oooo hahah.. but then after telling Bai and Bart yesterday, then telling my sister who laughed till she cried, I thought, "What the heck!"

Yesterday morning, I woke up early to do some last minute chores for tomorrows dinner. Usually I take a nap after Subuh (I know, BAD HABIT but I'm trying to not do it already :p) but yesterday, I just got ready to go to school.

Old habits die hard okay so I guess I was still a bit drowsy as I got ready to drive. A few meters after going outta Taman Transkerian, while rubbing my eyes, I suddenly noticed my right hand on the steering wheel and was jolted outta a sudden realization. I made an emergency brake at this point!! Luckily there were no cars behind me..

What made me do this, huh?

In my head (and I'm 100% sure I exclaimed it out loud!), "Ya Allah, terlupe pakai cincin! Mati laaa.. mati laaaaa.."

(Actually at this point of the story, my sister Izati was laughing her head off!)

It took me a while to realize, sy mane penah ade cincin hahahahahahahahaha..

*sengih sambil garu kepale*

Malu okay, nasib baik sy sorg dlm kereta and takde sape menggunekan jalan tu di pagi hari smlm! I felt my face grow hot at the thought of what would've happened if someone else was carpooling with me.

I dunno what in world made me think of something like THAT and both Bart and Izati asked me the same question, "Mimpi ape mlm smlm ni sampai bleh perasan ade cincin kat tangan ni?"

I honestly have no idea. I slept like a log and don't remember ANY dream at all..

*sigh*

Kamek sik pandey kelakar Sarawak ♥

So I've procastinated long enough for my entry on our recent 'vacation' to Sarawak. Actually there were too many photos to choose from so before I forget, pictures in the upcoming entries need credit due to the individual photographers but since I've taken from so many, let me list them down: Faizal, Hasrul, Prof Wan Hashim and Anim.. just in case I forget.

Still, I think is gonna be broken down into a few entries hahah.. so this will be my first.

Initially we were told that the bus would pick us up at 10am on Saturday morning so I had cancelled my classes for the day. Imagine how annoyed I was when the time was changed to 8.45pm. The reason, I hated leaving my classes coz usually my students would ask me to repeat what the sub had taught them so sgt la buang my mase kan and sometimes the subs just goyang kaki in my class.. grrrr!

So of course la sy geram bile mase ditukar. I'd already cancelled my class and I couldn't possibly uncancel them as the subs had been told to take over my class already. Was dreading a whole day without anything to do until Arep suggested we go for raya ☻ So there we were on a Saturday afternoon, beraye makan nasik tomato @kak Hafsah's and pulut kuning Tmn Seri Emas feveretku @Shahril's.. sib baik ade activity!

That night pulak tak yah citer la.. Misscommunications menjadikan kami menunggu dgn boring and akhirnye bus bergerak nearly 11pm.

Fast forward to LCCT, we had breakfast there while checking in and finally got on board at 8.10am.. yeayy! My first time going to somewhere 'Malaysian' that is outside the peninsular ☺☻☺☻☺

Bla.. blaa.. blaa.. arrived at UniMAS and once we got our respective rooms, memasing tido hehe.. I couldn't sleep in the bus so mmg compensate la once dah mandi and all that. But baru nak lelap, Amer dah msg, "Ape ni kak Ayu, kat Penang pun boley tido.. rugi la dtg Sarawak pun nak tido!"

So that afternoon, while waiting for Dr Wan, Amer came to UniMAS, yeay! Our designated guide for the day since activities only started the next day and we were free from 11am onwards. Amer is the one wearing spectacles and diorg ni sibuk la nak bergambar ngan 'kete plate Sarawak' hahahaha..

Amer took us to the Waterfront (which became our favourite place throughout our stay there) sbb 'Amer tak tau nak bwk akak pegi mane lagi'. Hehe.. good choice though. There was this exhibition there so ape lagi, budak² ni memang suke bergambo.. tetibe Ayu ikut serta :p

Then tgk la si Sya and Faizal ni nak bertarung ape taaahhh..

And sbb nak sgt bergambar with something 'Sarawak', kat this shield pun jadik laaaaa ☺

Then, tetibe je bebudak ni ternampak this "Kempen Berbudi Bahasa" booth and tau ape diorg buat..

..teka silang kate! Sbbnye, sape dpt all the words, akan dpt adiah. Ni la antare muke² bangge dpt adiah niiiiiii..

Mlmnye pulak, we went to umah a friend of budak² ni, Nadya. Anak dia sgt chumel okay.. Baizurah, sile chop buat menantu!

It was here that we had our first taste of Laksa Sarawak and ALL OF US fell in love with it. Gambo je lupe nak amik sbb memasing sibuk tambah hehe..

Mlm tu tido sgt nyenyak la kaaaaannn.. but wait for tomorrow, hari yg penuh activity tuuuuu

My first time cooking for 30! :p

As I said in my previous entry, I had a not-really-open-house for my students. After being tricked by them into cooking for them, I just had to make SOMETHING to save face, kan!

I really seldom cook for a larger group than 5 so after the initial shock in having to cook for them dispersed, I freaked out hahaha.. Mau plak I telah memandai je ajak the other classes along without considering if I am able to cook for a large group or not.

Had days to ponder on what to cook. I had sorta promised my students long ago that I'd make them some baked pasta when I was free but never got around to make it. Then came the realization that most growing male teenagers carik NASIK je anywhere they go, so nak tanak, I had to cook some rice la jugak kan for them. Then some friends gave me a few ideas..

Dgon, a dear sister who selalu lepak at my home once upon a time ago for cooking sessions reminded me of my signature potato salad haha.. this is something yg Dgon and Pojie mmg akan cari whenever they come to my home, not because I make a great potato salad okay (I wish!) but because who in the world doesn't like potatoes? Betul tak? And since everyone always expects me to make it for potlucks or BBQs, I decided to make it..

..so I had to pair it up with something suitable la kan so I decided on spaghetti bolognese though I wasn't sure if my students would like pasta (actually in the end tak sempat make the baked pasta coz I forgot the milk!). Besides, I knew my neighbour suke my spaghetti hahah..

As for the nasik, I got the inspiration from Sharil who commented that his bestfriend Mat had been asking when I'd be making nasik tomato again (the last time I made some, I had given some to them, kak Chah and kak Bi sbb tak larat la nak abis byk²). As for dessert, I decided on making Caramel Pudding, a sure favourite of everyone!

Air pulak, since I'm not a fan (in fact, I more like a mortal enemy) of gassy drinks, I decided to just bancuh some cordial.

So after the menu was decided, I relaxed a little.. not realizing what I was getting myself into!!

First: I DO NOT own a rice cooker, and I suck at cooking rice on the stove.. REALLY suck!

Second: I DO NOT own those thermal containers to keep the rice hot pun!

Third: I have the bujang-style 2-stove yg RM40 itu, but only ONE stove is functioning!

Forth: I DO NOT own a super big fridge for my pudding, potato salad and to keep the chicken and the other whatsoever I might need!

Fifth: My dining utensils pun paling byk can only hold around 10 guests per use.. tu pun sib baik got dinning table sets from home mase baru pindah dulu

Sixth: My dining table can only hold four and I suspect cume akan penuh with makanan while the living area one has the six-seater settee.. mane org nak makan ni?

Seventh: I repeat, I have NEVER cooked for a large company!

Knowing that I'd have to really plan klau nak siap masak before 2 o'clock on Sunday, I made the potato salad at 2am on Sunday haha.. At least betul² chilled kan nnt hehe..

Then right after Subuh I made my way to the Parit Buntar market to buy the fresh things. Sungguh leceh had to buy a whole pineapple for the jelatah when I only needed half! Had a quick breakfast before starting the food preparation process and tgh basuh ayam baru teringat some students didn't have my address so had to contact them first.

While basuh the ayam, I had to boil the angel's hair (I only have one functioning stove, remember!) to save time and maximize my stove's usage. After finishing with the pasta strands, I had to sautee the sallots-garlic-ginger-chunkyspices for the nasik tomato in order to cook it while still basuh the ayam.

After finishing with the chicken and managing to finally cook the rice (1st batch okay, had to make 2 batches since the borrowed rice cooker tak le beso sgt.. tu pun sib baik la jiran kasik pinjam haha..), I started frying the chicken for the ayam masak merah.. and it was already way past 11am.. aiyak!! Dah la ayam sgt byk and took time to fry.. uwaaa, nangis!

Then bancuh my cordials (orange and blackcurrent) only to discover it was too sweet (sambil bancuh sambil check ayam kan!) so I decided to serve them with plain water and suh guests tambah plain water sendiri, aci? Hahah.. after a while, I campak on my hijab and rushed to the nearest shop to but some ice-cubes (fridge kecik kan, tak leh nak buat sendiri) and bottles of carbonated drink (Yes! I admitted defeat here! My students seronok giler coz usually dlm class mesti kene marah klau beli carbonated drinks!)

Balik rumah, took some time to make the ayam masak merah.. opsss! Before that sempat siapkan the jelatah while waiting for the ayam to fry, yeay! Was about to collapse when I realized I haven't prepared the spaghetti sauce.. uwaaaaaaaaaaa!!

I chopped the onions as fast as I could and didn't chop as much as I usually did since udah tak cukup mase, already 12.30pm dah and only sempat chop around 4 large onions which di chop dgn sgt tak cantik coz kelam kabut kan. The bag of tomatoes pun I tak chop dgn cantik sbb sambil chop, sambil tgk jam. Then quartered the mushrooms (more like potong 8 since I got large mushrooms!) and then only started making the sauce.

FINALLY finished all dishes at 1.15pm.. and guess what, I totally forgot about my caramel pudding.. aiyak!!

Tp sgt takde mase, I told my students to come around 2pm and I needed to solat and get ready myself.. rase cam, lantak la! Harap diorg tak perasan there was no dessert except for the cakes in the living room hehe..

By the time my students arrived, I was ready and a bit relaxed but not hungry at all haha.. Bese la kan, org yg masak tu mesti tak rase lapo lagik. Just left my studetns to eat while sembang² with them and to my suprise, diorg takde la nak nasik sgt pun but the spaghetti tinggal brape je by the time diorg balik hehe.. Huh! Penat je masak nasik for them klau tau camni but at least byk jugak la abis.. tak la rase terbuang mase nak memasak! ☺

Then after Asar pulak was expecting my friends yg duk dekat² sini to come finish up my cooking haha.. Had Arep, Salleh and their housemates.. Ija and Dayah from the hostel.. Sharil, Mat and Sham.. Ad and her sis tak sempat nak ajak but I had tapaued for her earlier while others mmg tak sempat nak jemput sbb lewat sgt dah mase tu..

Arep sampai² trus carik spaghetti while Ija carik potato salad. Yg lain makan nasik dulu kot before eating the sapghetti yg ala² mcm malu nak tinggal atas meja sbb sikit sgt haha.. by the time Shahril and Mat nak makan, mmg mcm kene scrape from the periuk.. tp sy sgt suke coz abis and boleh basuh je semua bende tu ☺☻☺☻☺

Around 7pm semua org balik, AFTER 'admiring' pokok jagung Salleh di rumah selang sebuah dgn ku itu and I got to basuh EVERYTHING dgn tenang hehe..

All in all, wpun penat and kelam kabut, I think it was a success! Never thought I could manage to cook THAT much haha.. but would I do it a next time?

Vacation 5 hari itu tidak cukup maaaa..

Masih terase sise² kepenatan from our trip to Sarawak and though I've had nearly a weeks rest from class and from school, masih terase tidak cukup.. aci ke?

Hahah..

Anyway, I'm still not in the mood to write about our trip memandangkan tomorrow my students nak dtg beraye (still Syawal tau :p). Suda pening mau masak ape and terase bercite² sgt tinggi nak masak byk since my dapur only one stove is functional.. tak tido la sy mlm ni.. adehhhh!

Still, I'm gonna update on both the Sarawak trip and the 'disaster' of tomorrow.. taaaaaakut! Hahaha.. harapnye menjadik la sy masak ye.. Btw, just a sneak preview of Sarawak entry.. ni gambo courtesy of Faizal ☺

A little bit of this and that..

Actually, still not in the mood to update for raya (rasenye langsung takkan ade mood dah ni kat hahah..) but I had a good one ☺

Still bersise² demam yg blum abis with my voice yg still ala² kambing but I've started teaching again. Sgt bosan okay bile tak mengajar so today sy mengharungi lah jugak panas dan tekak yg seperti berpasir ini demi anak bangsa (Over tul Ayu ni!)

Somehow, usually sy dah jarang melayan bdk² ni merepek merapu but hari ni, when they asked me for an open house, I BOLEY SETUJU!!!

What was I thinking?

Adeh! Now hafta think of a menu for them.. hambik ko, Ayu.. bersetuju tanpe berfikir! Dah la next weekend we'll be in Sarawak so we made a 'date' on the weekend after. Ye, I know, still have sufficient time to 'brainstorm' for the menu.. but?!?! Mampus kene kutuk klau tak sedap hahah..

Yesterday plak duk rumah je whole day. I felt a bit better actually on Thursday morning so I came to school for the undergraduate Geomatics test we did until 1pm. Usually we go find some shady area while the studetns do their thing but since today was an instrument setting test, we HAD to stay under the sun jugak la kannn.. and thus, demam balik la on Friday so decided to skip school altogether..

Didn't know what to do, the mati-kutu-syndrom dan² la menyerang kan time nak sgt ade alasan ponteng school so I went through my CDs and found Sound of Music.. yeay!

I really love this movie and tak pernah bosan watching it. It still makes me laugh as if I heard the joke for the first time and it still makes me cry as if I didn't expect those touching scenes.. AND, I can still sing along with ALL the song, sore like kambing and all haha.. alaaa, the whole street tu sy sorg je duk umah ape :p

Malam pulak since I had cancelled my class, was really bored so text my neighbours Arep and Salleh and turned out they were planning to go out pun. Ape lagi, I tak along je la haha.. and terjebak lah jugak membeli kete menan like them..

Okay lah, wanna stop now. My body still aching so I wanna take a nap jap before my class tonight (and try to think of WHAT TO COOK for my students nanti.. haishhhh, camne leh setuju nih?!!?)
