Now I Remember

.. why I HAVE to use blankets at night!

I’ve always been the kind of person whom, no matter how hot the night is, I still need my blanket. I don’t used quilts (gila paa pakai quilt kat Malayia ni?!?) though. I use reliable thick normal blankets coz I know I still use it no matter how the night temperature is.

This sometimes is kinda a hassle when I go stay at someone else’s house and they don’t provide any blankets. Nak mintak tu macam malu la kan, so I usually keep quiet and because of that, I also have an extra pair of socks in my car, just in case..

It has been a habit since I was a kid and I couldn’t remember what prompt me to stick to this until yesterday.

I was a bit tired and exhausted last night so I decided to sleep early. Well, not THAT early la but earlier than usual. I was tired enough that I think I must’ve dozed off once I lay in bed as when I woke up this morning (without my usual habit of waking up every now and then throughout the night), I realized my blanket was still neatly folded at the end of my bed. This surprised me as I usually make sure I’ve laid out my blanket before I switch of the lights but I guess there’s a first time for everything.

Anyways, things were ok the whole morning and I forgot about my tidoq-tak-ingat-donia. Then, as 2pm rolled by, I found myself locking the door to the house to go to my usual class in Parit Buntar.

As I lifted my foot to secure the straps on my trustworthy ‘teaching sandal’, I felt the pull of the muscle in my calf..

..macam nak nangis kot! Huwaaaa..

I don’t even remember the last time I had a leg cramp but I remembered then WHY I could NEVER sleep without a blanket. I ALWAYS get leg cramps when I don’t.. and it hurt!

Only this time, I got it, what, 7 hours after waking up?!? Usually they’d happen just as I was waking up.. sangat ‘perfect’ timing as I had to drive to my class and I was clutching my calf hoping to ease the pain.

Went to class with a subtle ‘limp’ as the aftermath of a cramp (as anyone can tell you) was still there. Luckily it was my left leg, not my right-and-driving leg.. sheesh!

Note to self: Pakai selimut!!

Ok.. confirm! Hahah..

Was about to swith of the computer when I came across this in Fb.. and laughed out loud! Seryes kah ni?!?! Patut la bile tension je, sy potong rambut heheh.. and just so you know, sy ni jarang tau potong rambut. But when I think about it, the last few times I cut it off, mesti mase tu tgh serabut. And I thot I was weird.. rupenye, ramai je heheh..

P/S And menyesal till now coz I DON'T LIKE SHORT HAIR.. rimas! Rambut, sile la panjang balikkkk.. =(

When your girlfriend or wife, who has had long hair since you’ve known her, suddenly decides one day that a nice shoulder length bob would flatter her more, or worse, comes home out of the blue one day with all her hair hacked off, look out. This is probably around the time she’ll stop having sex with you, and probably around the time she’ll start mentioning breaking up, or divorce. At the very least, you should understand that she is going through something very emotional, very unpleasant, and more than likely, something very much related to you.

Because hair, for almost every woman, represents femininity and beauty, and sometimes, therefore, what she thinks of herself.

A woman’s emotions are more closely linked to her hair than to any other part of her.

27-hour Tourist in Penang ~ ☺

So what can I say about my 27-hour stint of being a tourist in the state I was born in? Well, for starters: I ♥'d EVERY MINUTE OF IT! Thanx Shahnazzzzzzzz

Even managed to avoid thinking of something too ☺

Ini rezeki namenye, just when I needed a break. Actually the voucher was for Shahnaz and her friend but since her friend was busy, she asked me if I wanted to go with her for a night near the beach. At first I was reluctant coz I wasn't sure of my state of mind.. but after a moment, I thought, What the heck?

It started as promised around 11am on Sunday where I met Shahnaz at her home. After parking my car, we started our day as tourists ~ ☻

First Shahnaz took me to the Little Penang Street Market. Its a monthly flea market (last Sunday of the month) in the middle of Georgetown and this was the first I knew of it (Typical Penangite, I am!) They sold all things homemade like woven bags, little trinkets, antiques, soaps and such. There was even a small stage for some cultural shows as well as an information counter to promote all the happenings in Penang for the next month. There's a link here you can look at of you want more information.

Anyway, guess what I got:

Heheh.. I usually hate nutmegs (despite Penang being the state of the fruit) but the nutmeg juice was seriously refreshing and delicious, much to my suprise as I had initially taken the sample offered just to not be rude. Ended up taking a bottle home, eh.. thanx to Shahnaz!

For our lunch, Shahnaz took me to this vegetarian Indian restaurant which reminded me of the promise Rashid, Puga and me had about going to their favourite Indian restaurant. Her chinese friend had introduced her to this place.. Sgt Satu Malaysia kannn! Somehow, I've forgotten the name, Woodland or something. Situated pun jgn tanye la kat mane, I don't know the name of the street but I'm pretty sure I can still find my way back there.

I didn't understand the menu so Shahnaz helped me here and I settled for some mushroom beriyani that was absolutely yummy and suprisingly filling. Shahnaz had this fried roti (also can't remember the name), sorta like an enlarged version of puree with some chickpea sorta sambal and we had another dish of some cottage cheese cooked in sambal.

Serius kenyang, hokey!

Then we went to check into the hotel.. and where did we stay? Tadaaaa~

Okay, actually I took the wrong picture here haha.. but very malu wanna take the one in front of the hotel coz there were a lot of people around. But hey, there's the King of Pop whaaaattttt..

Our room still wasn't ready when we checked in so we had to wait. This was the first time I saw a hotel with a bar attached to the front desk. Sgt like perak, right! Hahaha.. at least they served everyone a cool drink while waiting, on the house!

We noticed that there was this group of car owners who must've had some sorta function in Penang.. you know the cars yg mahal-giler-leh-beli-10-PFK like these..

..and these..

Okay, I curik² amik these pictures while waiting for Shahnaz to park ~ ☺

When we finally got to our room, my first impression was I was a bit disappointed with the room since I think most normal hotels pun looked better, UNTIL I looked into the bathroom with this majestic kinda mirror in it.

But then I noticed you could actually see the inside of the bathroom from the room itself so I was a bit self-consciuos when I wanted to use the toilet SAMPAI la Shahnaz discovered that you just had to push the board aside and tadaaa.. the toilet would be as private as it should BUT with this singing guy (whom I still don't recognize) looming at the wall seemingly watching your every move.. creepy! And sgt la perak of me kaaaannn hahah..

We freshened up a bit before getting ready to go find some dinner. Ohhh, had a little 'fight' with the 'hidden' shower tho' hahaha..

When we arrived back at the hotel, it was nearly Maghrib and we met with Ray, the very person who had presented Shahnaz and her friend with the voucher we were currently using.. and the very reason Shahnaz chose this day to stay in the hotel as Ray and the Jazzhats were performing that night.

One word can be used to describe this 62-year old: ENERGETIC!

After performing Maghrib prayers, we went down to watch their performance. This was my very first time doing something like this and I was suprised at how much I enjoyed it. Shahnaz was right when she said you'd wanna sing along with them hehe..

Ray sang evergreen songs, most that I know. Maybe that was why I enjoyed it.. or maybe it was because of his infectious enthusiasm ☺

I went to sleep that night with some songs still playing in my head hehe..

The next morning, after breakfast, we went to fefeeling ala tourist at the beach behind the hotel. I forgot how beautiful Penang beaches can be and was glad to be reminded of it ☺

Here's the view of the hotel from the beach pulak..

Then when it started to get a bit too hot for us (but seemingly the right time for the tourists to go sun bathing) we went back to our room to pack our things and check out.. but first we went to the gift shop to look around first, not that I bought anything.

After checking out, Shahnaz took me to Leo's, a bookstore she's been raving about for months. I was excited until we realized the store was closed on Mondays. However my disappointment was not for long as the owner knew Shahnaz and she opened the store, JUST FOR US!

Sgt rase cam celebrity, hokey!

I was blinded but the choices they had in the store. It wasn't big like Popular or Borders but it was crammed with books as you can see here..

..and here!

Like bes giler kan!

In the end, I, who had said I just wanted to browse around, bought 4 books, one which I bought for Mama.. uhhh, sgt tak leh tahan the bookworm in me kan! Tu pun, the half hour we spent there didn't satisfy my hunger *sigh*

Our last stop for the touristy thingey, was to this Hokkien Mee stall near Island Plaza. This was my first time tasting it as I never was surec where to find a halal one.

Slurrppp.. it was superb! I took Shahnaz's cue and ordered some air Mata Kucing as well and both were good!

After that we went back to Shahnaz's to get my car and Shahnaz had to get ready for her class that afternoon. All in all, I enjoyed every moment!

To Shahnaz: Thanx sbb ajak sy! Didn't expect to enjoy myself so much with everything you introduced to me. Seryesly merasekan sgt kerdil di Penang sbb wpun lahir and besar kat situ, tp bnyk tak tau pasal negeri sendiri.. so since kite nye potluck is planned for bln pose, I suggest the NEXT one, kite ajak sumer buat something like this nak? Minus the hotel stay la, of course, kang mak sumer org marah tak tido kat umah kan hehe..

Wisdom-less, now that I'm wisdomtooth-less?!

Yup.. I've finally managed to take out the wretched tooth. The one thats been giving me so much agony for the past few months and which always has given me a problem everytime I wanted to go to the dentist to extract it. The last one being, "Gusi awak bengkak so sy tak boleh nak cabut gigi kalau gusi bengkak. Sile makan ubat ni dan datang jumpe sy balik bile gusi awak dah tak bengkak", said the motherly dentist of USM dental clinic in USM Penang a.k.a the dentist yg come here to our campus every.. err, Thursday?

It was an outta the blue kinda decision. Actually, my gums have been fine for month but perasaan takut malas nak pegi cabut gigi overcame me so I never really made the effort until a few days ago.

Last week Yun had been complaining of her own tooth and suddenly on Tuesday, I had an out of body experience where my hand suddenly picked up the phone and promptly made an appointment for my tooth extraction. I wasn't afraid or anything jugak (Well, usually I'm not among those who are afraid of dentist, in fact I usually make sure I get my twice-a-year dental check. Its the tooth-extraction that gets me since I've never had one of those kot.. and maybe because of a traumatic experience when my dentist pulled out the front teeth when I was smaller!)

It was okay until 5 minutes to my appointment where I started regretting making the appointment. Yun (who also made an appointment but never got to the extraction part after the dentist offered,"Nak cabut ke atau tampal je?" <--Huh! Tak aci!) seemed relaxed so I didn't wanna show that I was starting to be afraid.

The dentist was as kind as ever. People tell me that its one of the worst pain, while some tell me its when they wanna 'bius' you which is the most painful.. so OF COURSE LA SY TAKUT GILER!

..which I found out was a waste of time coz I didn't notice when she finished with me! Hahahah..

I DID notice her applying pressure but it wasn't the 'pain' type so I was suprised when she put some clean gauze into my mouth and asked me to bite on it, then proceeded to give me a few packs of gauze to 'replace them when they get soggy'.

Huh? Dah abis ke? Nape tak sakit pun?!?!

Hahaha.. and now I feel like a fool sbb takut sgt berbulan² about this tooth extraction!

When the anesthetic had worn off, I was a bit afraid of the pain but instead I only felt a dull thud now and then.. tu je! Hahhhh! Sgt malu ok..

Tho I still can't eat. Not because of the pain (which btw, mmg takde!) but because I'm conscious of the gaping hole on where my tooth once was (mcm terbayang makanan tersekat kat dlm lubang yg blum tertutup itu.. acikah?)

So now, I'm the proud owner of a bloody wisdom tooth still in the plastic the dentist had given me. I no longer have any wisdom tooth in my mouth since this was the ONLY one which dared to come out thus making my teeth in a total of 28 semula!

Let's just see if I lose any wisdom (selame ni berwisdom sgt ke, Ayu?) with the loss of my wisdom tooth, eh? IF, I can get any clumsier and sillier than I am now haha..

P/S
Btw, org melayu ckp, klau gigi belakang dah tumbuh, tak leh tinggi dah! How bout klau dah tumbuh then kite gi cabut, adekah sy masih boleh meninggi?!?!

Kami bilang kat mak kami nanti.. =p

I was born in Penang a zillion few years ago but spent the first two years of my life a few hundred miles away from Penang and the next four years, a few thousand miles away. I only really came back to Penang as I was entering standard 1 of my primary school thus, I was ‘deprived’ of growing up among Penangites. Since my parents were also not from Penang, no one talked in the Penang dialect at home but I was lucky when I went to SKSG since most of my friends are just like me. A huge chunk of us were offsprings of the staff from USM so not everyone was what you’d say, Penang Piau!

Then I entered form 1 in AlMashoor, and imagine the ‘culture shock’ I suffered!

Most of us were from around Penang and Kedah so everyone talked in the Penang dialect, even in class sometimes during Bahasa lessons. I felt like the odd one out with the difference in the way I spoke to everyone. But most of the girls were nice and never stopped trying to teach me the ‘correct’ way of conversing Penang-style. Though yes, I made a lot of mistakes. For example, any word ending with ‘r’ in the standard Malay language with be turned into ending with ‘q’ like air=ayaq, besar=besaq, ular=ulaq. I once said ‘petiaq’ for ‘petir’ which left my dormates laughing tak hengat haha.. that was the last time I tried talking in the Penang dialect for a very long time.

Anyway, now I consider myself quite good in the Penang dialect (mati la kene gelak ngan Bai ngan Bart pasni if they read this!) but I only talk that way when I’m confortable with the person I’m talking with and only if he/she talks that way to me too (I’m back in USM where, once again as in SKSG, talking in the Penang dialect isn’t the main ‘language’ here)

Still, sometimes when reading what my friends write in their FB statuses, I sometimes remember how hard and confusing it was once upon a time ago haha..

Confusing? You might wonder why I say its confusing especially if you’re the Penang Piau clan but to me, some words made me question the complexity of the Malay language. You see, Penangites use a lot of standard Malay words, unlike some other state dialect where some words are totally unrecognizable. But Penangites sure love to twist the words around till it doesn’t mean the same as it should in the standard version.

I’ve made a list of those words here:

Kami: Is supposed to mean ‘us’ in standard Malay but Penangites especially children love using it as a substitute to ‘I’ or ‘saya’. I myself used that until cikgu Noerida taught me to use ‘saya’ which (some might say) unfortunately, I’m still using till now instead of the usual ‘aku’ everyone else uses haha..

Bilang: means ‘kira’ or ‘count’ or ‘calculate' kannn? But in Penang, bilang means ‘bagitau’. I remember being confused on why my friend wanted to ‘bilang kat mak kami’. I wondered how many mothers did she have hehe..

Lagu ni: which should mean ‘this song’ but to them, it means ‘like this’. When my friend taught me to do it ‘lagu ni’, I almost imagined her wanting to sing out to me as she taught me how to sew in our Kemahiran Hidup class

Eksyen: Ok.. ni bkn Malay word but derived from the word ‘action’ kot, I supposed. Action means like ‘perbuatan’, right? But to these people, eksyen means ‘show-off’. I had a friend who liked showing off a bit during standard 1 coz she came from a rich family and when the other kids called her ‘eksyen’, I almost laughed. Especially since you have to have a certain way to say if for it to sound right!

Tak dan: This was confusing as ‘tak’ means ‘not’ and dan means ‘and’ which is ridiculous with no meaning at all. But here, it means ‘tak sempat’ or ‘not enough time’

Tak dan dan: Those words still mean the same in standard Malay but this time it means ‘tak sabo²’ heheh..

Lapaq ayaq: which means ‘hungry for water’.. go figure! Hahah.. Abah (a Perakian!) use to say ‘dahaga nasik’ (thirsty for rice) just to poke fun in it as it was something we didn’t quite understand then but I’ve grown to miss hearing someone say this ☺

Segan: This should mean ‘shy’ or ‘malu’ but to them it means ‘lazy’. Hahah.. I remember Yun who was sleeping in the same cubicle as Yana. Yana was a Kedahan (the Kedah Piau sort) and Yun was a Johorian. One day, Yana told Yun, “Aku segan la nak basuh baju” which made Yun confused on why she felt SHY in washing her clothes hahah..

Pada la: ‘pada’ is like ‘with’ la camtu.. but in Penang, ‘pada laaa..’ means ‘patut la’ or ‘no wonder’.. see, mane sy tak konpius! Heheh.. when I told Bart about how I got a cut in my hand a few years ago, she said, ‘pada la’ and I was wondering what she meant by it since in standard Malay, itu agak tergantung kaaannn..

Mintak nyawa: Ni paling menakutkan haha.. I actually turned around in panic when I heard my junior say this during sports day at Westlands. I thought she was having a heart attack or something since it literally means ‘asking for a soul/life’ but it turned out she was just out of breath after entering the race. Really made me think that these Penangites are Drama Queens indeed!

Teriak: When I was in form 1, it was the first time for most of us to stay in the hostel, away from home. So it was normal to see a girl crying for being a bit home-sick. One day, my friend was crying quietly as it was her first day in the hostel (unlike most of us who have been in the hostel for one whole month then). After trying to console her, we left her to cry quietly at the back of the class then another friend asked what was the matter with the crying girl. Then Mak Su said, “Dia teriak!” and I was stubbornly telling them, “Dia tak teriak la, dia nangis je..” which made me be the laughing stock of the class for a while coz while I knew ‘teriak’ meant ‘shout’, my friends are more familiar with it meaning ‘cry’. Maunye sy tak konpius, budak tu nangis pelan je pun haha..

Simpan buang: This from kak Wan, a Kedahan, who married Dr Burn who’s from Melaka. After diner one night, she told her daughter to ‘simpan buang’ all the leftovers when her mother-in-law quickly protested on why nak ‘buang’, lauk tu elok lagi heheh..

1 duit: or when said fast would sound like ‘satu dek’ which I thought meant ‘satu adik’ haha.. ade ke jual beli gune adik?!?! Boleh kah Ayu? I always protested and stubbornly said 1 sen coz to me, duit can be any coin or banknote and not just confined to the one-cent coin

Gurmit: Which I thought was the name of a Singh but actually meant a ‘pencil sharpener’

Well, that’s not all but I can’t recall the other words right now. Its because of this that tho, as I said earlier, I’m quite good in my Penang dialect (haha.. pasan!), I could never bring myself to use these expressions.

Still, I’m not writing about this to condemn the Penang dialect or something. But its because talking to Yan, Diana and Bart a few Fridays ago (when they laughingly said behind my back that I was ‘pi hampaq tikaq semayang kat Masjid Parit Buntaq’ just because I didn’t reply to the FB thread started by Bart), I realize I miss hearing my friends talking like that and funnily enough, I also miss hearing them laugh at the way I talk too..

..and something else I just realized, its in hearing anyone near me talk in the Penang/Northern dialect do I really feel more at home!

"Reply to all"

I'm feeling like an idiot for now haha..
I bought my phone a few years ago, and a few months after my purchase, my brother Adi also bought a new phone. But though our phones were only a few months apart, mine was a bit ancient compared to his at that time haha.. so most of the time I was content with being laughed at =p

Now, I have this annoying habit of MMSing pictures to my family and friends. The usual MMS are about my baking la and usually I send them to all my siblings all at once and wait for their comment. One of those incidents found me sending the usual MMS to my siblings as well to a few students and I got a reply from Adi 'kutuk'ing his kak Yong haha..

A few minutes later, my student Irfan asked me about this particular number he just received an sms from. I didn't recognize the number (ye lah, whats the use of the address book in your phone, right? =p) but when he told me of the content, I realized it was from Adi. He received the sms Adi apparently sent in response to my earlier MMS.

Terus terkagum la saya.. phone sekarang boleh "reply to all" rupenye! Jeles gile, ok, since I usually had to mark the numbers in my phonebook if I wanted to send an sms to multiple recipients dan sangat la terase rendah diri with my phone yang terase sgt sikit function.

Takpe lah, sy pujuk hati. Told myself, bukan susah sgt pun nak mark recipients yang sy nak kan?

That was around a year ago, I think..

Then yesterday, Ikram sent this MMS to our siblings about a routine he just created for his martial arts demo and he wanted feedback. Since I got it in the midst of a class, I didn't watch it that much and only managed to watch it again a few hours ago.

As I wanted to reply on his message, I noticed the screen displayed this:
* reply
* reply to all

WhaaaAAAAaaaatttTTT?

Sumer phone memang ade ke function nih?

Ahahahahaha.. and sy baru tau ke?

Adehhh~~ Aparaa Ayu..

4 years ago.. and now!

4 years ago, around this time, I was struggling doing my writing for my MSc dessertation. I was a night owl then, when my pace was the most optimum in the wee hours of the day.

My daily routine was (assuming my day started at night, the night owl I was) going to my tuition classes from 8.00pm to 10.00pm and arriving at school around 10.30pm. Most of the time I'd go out with some friends for some dinner at the nearby haunts and will only really sit in front of my pc around 11.00pm. The first thing I'd do is check for emails from Dr Wan (who always sent back our drafts on the same day we sent it to him) then I'd proceed with my writing. Sometimes the guys would ask me to go out for drinks around 2.30am but after 3.00am, I'd be working on my thesis till around 5.00am when I'd finally go back home, wait for Subuh then sleep away until 9.00am or 10.00am. Then I'd go back to school to finalize the draft I wanted to send and email to Dr Wan. Then I would go on to another chapter or anything related.. and my day would repeat just like that.

..until World Cup 2006!

At first it was just that the conversation during dinner would all focus on goals, offsides, defense and bla bla.. Then, since I was the one who was up all night, I became the 'alarm clock' for some friends (even those NOT in USM haha..) to wake them up for certain matches. After that, since I started Googling about the matches, I was asked about the results by those who didn't wake up despite my numerous calls to them.

Then my cousin, Jai, started telling me a few things about football and about the countries that were participating since I found a lot of countries I never heard of among the 32 teams. My junior, Pojie, also started teaching me a few basic things about Football 101 and Remy started teasing me on knowing the results way before them (Ye la, korg tido kan time tu haha..)

Midway through WC06, my thesis started to see the end of the tunnel so I didn't have to stay up so late. So one night, I went home around 3.30am but since my biological clock was reset abnormally, I couldn't sleep so I decided to watch ONE match. I don't remember who was playing, it was an Asian team (Japan? Korea?) against USA. I was mumbling to myself on what the hell did they find interesting in a team of guys wearing shorts chasing a ball, when a goal was scored! To my suprise, the excitement on the screen was infectious..

Then I started watching a few games here and then and started liking a few teams. Mind you, I still didn't understand most of what was happening but to me then (and even now), a good game is when I don't realize the time passes. And a good team (tak semestinye the greatest), bukan lah yg bnyk pemain ensem (as I thought dulu haha..), but is the one that plays with passion (at least to me la mase tu.. and with passion, I mean the look on their faces bile foul or bile dpt goal hahaha.. very like budak² okay!) and creates an entertaining game.

Well, the rest, I'd say, is history! Haha..

I still remember Dr Farhan calling me the morning after the finals when my chosen team, Italy, had won on penalties. He called around 9.00am, I think, wanted to talk about my final draft and he could only meet me that day (Sunday) as he was always busy on weekdays. Kelam kabut kaaaauuuu.. mandi cepat² then when straight to him with mata bengkak haha.. he took one look at me and asked, "Tgk bola ke pagi tadi?" Hahaha..

But no, I don't watch or follow any leagues. Its a bit hard since I only have the normal channels on my TV but even if I have Astro, I don't think I'd like following matches every week. Once in a while, I just check the papers for updates, tu kire abis kuat la tu. Champions League nye final stages pun I only followed when my usual channels were broadcasting them and Euro aritu I was lucky enough when almost all games were broadcasted in the normal channels.

As for the WC2010, I find it hugely different from WC06. Four years ago, I was membebeling at my friends for watching something I thought buang mase. I only started watching during the final stages. Four years ago, I didn't care who played or who lost the group stages or who even entered the quarter final and semi finals. Four years ago, I didn't know a thing about football nor did I know any terms used in football and I only used 'tendang/kick' to descride how you should pass the ball.

Four years ago, I didn't know any players..

..err, well, I still dunno la since I only watch the games what, once a year? Once in two years? Hahah..

But the differance now is I could actually believe it now when they say the WC unites people all over the world (dulu I thought that statment was overrated!). If only people were this united in other world issues, kan haha.. Now, Izati doesn't wanna watch football with me coz she'd turn all black and blue from my pinches when Italy loses.. and was kicked out last in its group in the group stages! Now I know you can pass a ball or cross it. You can also, literally, use your head to score a goal for your team.. and now I can even spot an offside when it baffled me before! Hahah..

Yes, I know.. thats basic stuff. Really basic stuff but for me, its a huge change.. and I'm loving it. The last WC found only me on Argentina's side while Abah, Izati, Iskandar, Sofi and Masyitah were all on Germany's side. Imagine how I was booed when Argentina lost? But for this WC, I especially like it when Iskandar and me were on different sides of the England-Germany match, and I was on different sides with both Izati and Iskandar on the Argentina-Germany match BUT the same side as Adi so we both got booed together by our younger siblings. And hey, 4 years ago, Adi asked me, tak cukup laki ke klau tak tengok bola? Hahah.. but this year, he's on Netherlands side from the start.. Go Oranje!

And no, sape cakap tak cukup laki? I know a lot of great guys who don't watch football. Fell in love with one too haha.. still remember the WC2002 when me and him were chatting while around us, people were shouting for the goal.. so know, football is not for the real men too!

Most of all, I like it when me and my students have something to 'fight' about. I laughed out loud when Brazil lost as my students were asking me to end the class early as they didn't wanna miss the game. I had told them earlier, "Korg ingt korang balik awal boleh tolong Brazil menang ke?" Hehe..

So yes, I DO enjoy myself now during football (though not much to say la during boring matches) but at least I'm not a 'closed' as I was 4 years ago. Thanx to all my friends who 'sumbat' all those great things about football in my head, I don't think I'd ever say these people are wasting their time again :)

Some people..

Some people are born great.. those lucky ones!

Some people have greatness thrust upon them.. whether they want it or not haha..

Some people rise into greatness.. the deserving ones!

But some people just need to tell people they are great, just in case people don't notice their greatness.. and thats just simply pathetic! Hahah..

Discovery 2

Actually planned to do the birthday update.. Irfan dah tanye tak update adiah depa kaaa heheh..

But then tadi, came back from the MMC-Gamuda Electralized (cam salah je my spelling.. nnt I recheck!) Double Track site visit feeling very exhausted. Not that we did much but we went to two sites which I'd like to talk about here.. takut lupe the facts nanti but with the sun right on top of us for the whole morning till noon, felt a bit.. hazy!

Then came back to school for the tahlil and feast by the technical staff. Fahmi ajak basuh pinggan so there we were washing all the dishes, pots and pans along with Salleh, Khairul (?) and Syafiq(?) [Sorry, just introduced to them tadi so but i'm sure I got both their names right]. And after more than an hour of washing, I just wanna go home, wash up, solat and take a nice looooongg nap.

Anyway hehe.. about the discovery!

I've always known USM as Universiti Sains Malaysia.. right? Malaysians sumer tau kan? :)

Then at the site office, I got to know another meaning of USM: UnSuitable Material..

..apekah?

Huh.. sabo je lahhhhh...

Discovery!

Remember a previous post I said, GREENS DON'T MAKE YOU FULL..?

Hmm, I think I'm gonna hafta swallow my words..

*sigh*

Yesterday, since I was too lazy to make something on the stove, I decided to do that salad thingey I did last week.. you know, the one with the baked cheese? The differance this time was that I used the whole head of those corally leafy thingeys.. as a result, I got this huge bowl of salad that I was sure could last me until dinner.. added with something else heavy that is!

So I sat in front of the tv, taking a quarter of the portion I had prepared (ni berlakon je ni, I knew a quarter portion won't be enough pun, tu sbb I bought the whole salad bowl sekali depan tv pun hehe..) and munching on the greens. Mind you, this was around 11am. And true to what I had said, greens don't make you feel full.. as the next thing I knew, I HAD FINISHED THE WHOLE BOWL.. and this coming from a girl who hates greens!

Then know what.. I didn't need to eat anything ELSE right until this morning!! I, of all people was suprised coz like I said earlier, these things don't make you full.. and my day was actually full of activity right after Zohor where I had two classes, Maths F5 in Jawi 2.15 to 4.15 and Maths F5 in Bagan Serai 5.15-6.45 AND Maths F2 8.15-10.15pm.. and I wasn't hungry, even a bit!

Wow! I was wrong!

Hehe..
