At times like these..

..I just wanna scream!!

Seriously!

I'm not mad.. just.. exasperated!

Why is it that when I'm too tired to try, you make me feel so guilty.

When I just want some time out, you make it as if I hate you.

When I just want to be the person you want me to be, you make sure I know its never gonna be enough!

..and you wonder why I keep running away ='(

Just now, I wanted to try to make it right. I just wanted you to know that, though from the outside it seems like things have gone for the worse, deep inside I've never changed.

And it was going so well..

..but you just had to ruin it didn't you!

You just had to..

Well.. wait till you get the 'message' I sent you.. then all hell would break loose =(

A Black and White World

Like all other Malaysian kids, rice and P Ramlee movies were among the staples of growing up. Rice was taken twice a day then.. P Ramlee movies?! Once a week and even that wasn't enough. You could recite all dialogues from any random P Ramlee movie but you still wanted more.

I guess me and my siblings love for P Ramlee movies were inherited from Abah. We had videos of almost all P Ramlee movies where Abah would always have extra empty video tapes for recording the movies. We grew adept at the recording (while filtering all commercials, of course) of these movies so anyone could do it.. just in case Abah was outstation at that time.

Just now was a screening of Sarjan Hassan. A Japanese invasion based movie. In this movie, P Ramlee enlisted in the army to help with the war. I always cringe whenever I realize its Sarjan Hassan on screen because of an incident when I was around 8 or 9 years old (I previously thought it was when I was in standard one, until I remembered, we still hadn't moved to our present house then haha..)

There was once scene (the one that makes me cringe whenever I remember it) where P Ramlee wanted to buy a long scarf (selendang) for his sweetheart back in the village. He told the shopkeeper, he wanted 'the blue one'.

I was always amazed at this scene as it was a black and white movie. It lead to another question so I 'innocently' turned to my father and asked him..

""Abah, tahun bile dunia ni start ade kaler? Dulu² still bleh tau ke cemmane rupa kaler biru wpun dunia masih itam putih ?"

The look on his face (and this was even before he burst out laughing) made me realize I had just asked a silly question.

On my defense, I actually DID think that once upon a time ago, the world was in black and white. I always wondered how it must've felt like to be one of the adults who one day woke up to a colourful world and to tell you the truth, I envied them because they managed to witness a miracle... lah sangaaaaaattttt~~

And yeah.. I had to endure being the butt of the jokes for weeks after (and especially during the weekly P Ramlee movie time haha..)

*Updated*

P/S Turned out I wasn't the only one who thought this. A few friends (and a cousin hehe..) have just admitted to having the exact same thought as me..

Nightmare~

I just had one of the worst nightmares EVER!

I was back home in Sg Ara, with only Mama there. Iskandar had gone to work so there was just the two of us.

Well, as dreams go, it gets blurry and hazy la kan but at one point, Mama told me she had to go out so I was left alone in the house. I was contemplating on a quick doze on the settee when my back rubbed against something hard. Turns out, it was a hard bound book with this colourful jacket and me being me, just couldn't resist a book in my hand la kaaannn..

BUT.. somehow, the words in the book didn't make sense and seemed quite off compared to the jacket. It was then that I took of the jacket and..

HORRORS OF HORRORS..

How I picture my face must've looked like!

It was a copy of "50 Shades of Grey"!!!

Waaaa.. I woke up terus with my heart beating so fast. It took me a few moments to clam down and realize it was just a dream..

But dang! Now I'll forever picture my mum reading "50 Shades of Grey".. Tidaaaaaakkkkk~~~

Bayam Merah Pah Aisyah

Yesterday morning I found myself at the PB market. I had planned to go buy some things for some curry mee but as usual, I loved to browse all stalls. In the end, in addition the the things actually needed for my curry mee (which I bought in excees sbb kunun bleh freeze and use next time), I also bought some bananas and some vegetables.. particularly red spinach!

Usually there are so mane people at the market that no matter how early I go, some veges have already left the shelf by the time I arrived (even klau sampai there at 7.20am, ok!) This time I was lucky, they had a large fresh supply and without hesitation, I bought some.

Why am I talking about 'without hesittion'? Its because I very seldom cook leafy vegetables. I prefer the non-leafy ones (cucumbers, tomatoes, baby corn, green peppers, mushrooms and such) coz they are longer lasting in the fridge since I sometimes take time to even consider what to do with them haha..

Nway, since yesterday I'd already done my curry mee, I decided to make something different today and remembered the bayam merah I bought yesterday. I decided to try and see if I could make a respectable dish outta it. Yeah, I know, takat bayam merah je pun, not rocket science. But still..

In the end, I managed to make something that looked like what my arwah Pah would've done for us when she was still alive and strong.. tadaaa~~

I remember the first time I was introduced to this leafy vegetable. We had just come back to Malaysia and were staying at Kuala Kangsar for the time being. Pah had made lunch and I was suprised to see some red vegetable soup. It intrigued me that it was red in colour and I assumed Pah had put some red colouring in it.

A few months later, after entering school, I had learnt about the fable Raja Bersiong and instantly, my mind went to the bayam merah dish.

It worried me a bit and somehow Pah noticed this the next time we balik kampung. She then asked me if I wanted to help her prepare the dish and since my curiosoty was very high, I went along with her.

It was like magic when I realized the red colouring came from the spinach itself and Pah must've been amused seeing me so relieved that it wasn't actually cooked in blood, as in Raja Bersiong haha..

So thank you, Pah, for that lesson in kitchen magic. I always think of you whenever I see bayam merah, cooked or uncooked.

My first try at preparing bayam merah

Alfatihah..

My Try of Wan Chik's Specialty

Every raya, my favourite place to go is Wan Chik's house.. and its totally for the GREAT FOOD reason heheh..

She makes the greatest EVERYTHING! Her tompayak is just right and her tempoyak masak is the best. I remember one day when we arrived at her house and she had all this spread on the table. I wasn't really hungry but when I saw her tempoyak masak, I knew I just had to go get a small plateful of hot nasik. You see, even in Pt Buntar, I don't know where they sell tempoyak masak. Sure you could easily get some kuah tempoyak (ok la, not that easy la tp bleh la jumpe jugak) but tempoyak masak is so rare, I could only cross my fingers everytime balik kampung, hoping that someone would be making it (nmpk sgt la tak tau buat kaaaaaann)

Well, naturally the small plateful turned into a few platefuls when you add Izati to the equation and Wan Chik just shook her head seeing me and Izati sharing platefuls of hot nasik with her tempoyak masak. Lauk lain, sumer dah ditolak ke tepi, hokey!

Anyway, during raya, its her rendang and daging masak hitam. We'd call her from Penang otw to Kuale (we here refers to me and Izati.. whom Mama refers to as 'anak sedare Wan Chik yg buruk perangai' haha..) and remind her to keep some for us as we're keeping our tummies empty just to fill it with those raya specialties.

However, the past few years have seen us liking another dish she loves to make, especially since they now have to cut down on the red meat due to age (Hahah.. makcik ku dah tua!). Now, I never really liked eating this kind of food in public since I'm not really the neatest eater.. tp umah Wan Chik je pun kan! She doesn't even have to serve it to us as we'd sometimes just go straight to the kitchen for it.

Once, I asked her how she makes it and she gave me a 'review' of making it since you know la how org dulu² masak bukan tau nak sukat², main agak je pun bleh sedap, kan. I had planned on making it for a while now (I asked her ade kot 2 years ago) but never really got the chance (or kerajinan) to make it myself. The living-alone excuse is also something I'd use here jugak and I'd rahter wait for the two yearly rayas to eat her konpem-sedap one as opposed to ntah-ape-rasenye-nnt version I might make.

Somehow, this month has seen me a bit rajin in the kitchen. And when I say rajin, I mean that I cook my meals almost everyday. The almost bit tu sebab when I cook, I usually have to eat the same thing for the next 4-5 days since I'm living alone and you can't possibly cook in too-small portions, kan?

And yes, that also means a bit rajin going to the market in Pt Buntar hehe.. boley?

So there I was one Sunday morning, buying a few thing I thought I'd need for what I was about to make. So I'm not good at the main-agak-je-bile-masak thingey.. but hey! I DO try!

Back home, I cut up the shallots and garlic. Then washed and cut some other thingeys I got at the market..

..waaaaa! Sgt suke ok bile tgk ade org jual KERANG yang dah takde kulit.. senang keje sy heheh.. Got half a bowl for only about RM2.

Then I fried some tauhu and boiled some eggs since people usually put this for the garnishing..

and then I started to cook while trying my best to remember what Wan Chik told me.

And an hour later, I had some piping hot gravy.. yeay!

So here it is, presenting my first ever MEE KARI!

Heheh.. ok! So dah nak masuk 32 16 baru nak masak mee kari for the first time?

The taste? Okay la.. but still not confident to make for guest since Wan Chik punye somehowtaste way better than this one. Hmm, looks like I need a few more experiments first la kot ehh..

Welcome home, Precious! ♥

..and finally: YOU'RE HOME!! ♥

Last Friday, I called the workshop regarding my car yang dah berminggu berjauhan dari diriku yang amat memerlukan ini <--Drama? I knowwww.. =p

I had actually called on Tuesday jugak and katenye sedang dlm bilik cat.. tp takkan la berhari nak dicatnye kan, thats why I called on Friday and was told that my car was ready. They only needed to do some testing to make sure they had done a thorough job..

..maka tersengih la sy full with anticipation that I'd get my car petang tu.

Alas.. itu hanye kate² manis Anuar si supervisor workshop itu coz sampai ke petang pun dia tak call suh amik kete.. kecewenye diriku, hanya Tuhan sahaje yang tahu.

The next day we had planned to go to Tepet's kenduri then head to Perlis so I didn't wanna call the workshop.. just in case they DEMAND I go and get my car jugak.. ye la, gatal sgt nak call kaaann heheh..

Ahad tu daku keboringan dirumah.. sambil kecewe tak dpt gi open house umah Hasrul jugek.

Thats why petang tadi I made my mind, nak call jugak².. and the receptionist told me she didn't know anything and could she call me back later..

..haiyaaaa~~

But then, around 4.00pm, she called me and gave me the sweetest news I heard in a long time..

YEAYYYYY!!!

Ape lagi, terus ku call Rashid mintak dia anto kak Ayu dia ke workshop to finally get my car back.. suke tau! And tak benti senyum ☺ ☺ ☺

So.. wpun sgt lah ingin ku mengomplen bahwa kete ku sgt lah bising enginenye sekarang (Seryes bising.. rase cam satu taman leh dengar tau!), but I'm happy. PFK is back with me and I'm no longer alone ☺

Welcome home!

When I think of kak Shima and Ramadhan, I also think of..

..STEAMED FISH ala kak Shima!

My housemate kak Shima used to make this all the time, especially during the fasting month. Somehow, the last few weeks, I've been thinking of this haha.. boley?

Actually, I made this a few weeks ago but since I want ot perabis buang all the entry tertangguh, especially ones involving food (and right before Ramadhan hehe..)..

Anyway, its quite simple, what kak Shima would call campak² shj.. See!

Campak² je.. and using any vege you have in your fridge ☺ I used some green pepper, tomatoes and baby corn. And since I ♥ mushrooms, I had put a whole packet here too. Then only had to squeeze some lime on top and voila~

I actually did this during Izati's birthday on the 10th earlier this month aritu and since she wasn't here, I sent her the picture telling her its the thought of cooking for her that counts hehe.. jahat kan kak Yong dia?

And the taste?

Simply superb! Org tak makan sayur pun will eat all those vegetables up tau..

Mmm~mmm..

Always a bridesmaid, never THE bride?!?!

I got an sms from my cousin, Sayang, yesterday afternoon stating..

..wait for it..

..wait for it..

..wait for ittttt..

..I'm to be the maid of honour on our other cousin's birthday!

No, it wasn't a request. It was sorta like an order (ok la, 'order' seems harsh here tp saje nak drama lebey hehe..). And by whom?

By mummy dearest as well as the council of Aunties who had held the meeting (I suspect la since I know Mama and Wan Chik went ther after Fatin's solemnization on Sunday) at Tangkak, at mak Yang's house.

Sayang told me she was to be the M.O.H for the reception on our side while I'll be the one on the reception for the bridegrooms side.. and yes, she was 'ordered' too!

The reason: We were the only two eligible nieces of the Council who are still unmarried though we're both in our 30s (ok, pangakuan sekejap je ye.. pasni I'm back to being 16!)

Caiittttttt.. ada kaaaaaaa camtu?!?! Cisssss..

I have my own reasons for refusing which I will present to the Council, IF I have a chance (as if!)

1. I've been the maid of honour for THREE times already.. that I can remember la
  • First one to Lin who got married in Kuantan making it also the first experience for me driving all the way up there. I still have the peach and green baju kurung she gave me for the event tho.. ehem.. dah tak brape nak muat kot hahahahaaha..
  • Second to my dear old friend (NO, she's NOT old!), Sentot a.k.a Baizurah for the reception on Amin's side. I wore my favourite blue baju kurung then.. AND got the bouquet, tho not caught la.. more like she handed it to me herself ngan harapan ianye akan sgt mujarab =p
  • Third, a last minute pengapit to my bestfriend during the Uni years, kak Wahid. I went just to give support during the solemnization but ended up to being the 'bidan terjun' style pengapit. And to think that I was wearing a green suit which was the exact same colour with the hantaran making people joke asking if I was also the hantaran she was giving to her husband.. caiittt! Seb baik akak ku itu sporting bile org ckp camtu.. klau sy, mesti muke dah lain koooottt
So three times the charm.. kah?

Sepatutnye sy dah pencen la kan bab² jadi pengapit ni kaaannn

2. Another thing is, Iskandar already told all of us to find something green for raya (Ada kaa my adik bongsu plak call the shots.. cissss! Terpakse laa nak amik ati kaaaannn =p) So, I'm not gonna waste my money buying 2 new baju kurungs since the one required for the M.O.H. duty is Maroon! Very different colours both at the end of the spectrum la kaaannn..

3. People who know me, also know: Instead of a blushing bride, they'll have a BLUSHING BRIDESMAID on their hands. During Lin's reception, I was soooo afraid and kept looking at the floor the whole time ok.. During Baizurah's time pulak, I actually hid behind the stage during the times I wasn't needed for my duties.. boley? While during kak Wahid's, the photographers, a husband (Apit) and wife (Fisya) team that I know from USM, kept commenting on, "Awat laaa pengapit yg malu niiiii?!?!" and ayat tak leh blah from Apit, "Camne kak Ayu nak kawen ni klau dah jadi pengapit pun dok merah² muke camni?!"

So there! I've got THREE strong reasons for that la kann..

Except, I was reminded that the actual superstition was Three Times A Bridesmaid, Never A Bride. So I've actually shot my chances of being a bride when I agreed to be the last-minute MOH to kak Wahid. So what's a fourth time kan? You can't really break whats already broken!

Hehehe.. ok la. ok la.. I know la its superstition and sgt la khurafat for me to believe.. I saje nak drama lebey je in front of my Aunties tu sumer nnt =p So, I'd better make sure they don't read this hehe..

Aiyaaaa~~ Looks like me and Sayang can't really run away from our duty to our cousin, Fatin (and from the orders of the Council)

So Ndar, takdenye kak Yong nak beli baju kaler ijau tahun ni ye!!

Haisyyy.. better practice my blush-proof face before September, huh?

Tolong²! Sy tamau amik order klau yg camniii~ =p

Yesterday was the kenduri of my cousin (who is 3 years younger than me *sigh*). I drove all the way to Teluk Intan (siap sesat² lagi haha..) with Mama and Iskandar from 5am and arrived there around 9.30am after I promised my cousin Azilah, "Takpe, kak Yong mesti sampai pukul 7.30pagi ni nanti.." Aiseyyy, maluuuuu haha..

Anyway, we arrived home this morning around 2am and I slept like a log the whole day, dah la tak leh solat, lagi la takde alasan nak bgn awal kaaaaannnn =p

So why so tired (aside from the fact I was the sole driver la!)?

I had spent the whole of Friday making some things for my cousins wedding ni laaa.. dari pagi Jumaat, sampai la awal pagi Sabtu around 2.45am baru abis.. Ohh, rase cam Supergirl, boley?

(Blah la Ayu, org len buat bnyk lagi dari yg ni, relek jeeeee!)

First I made these..

..first time woo buat choc bnyk²! Dah la baru belajo kaaannn hehe.. seb bek ade Ma and Iskandar tolong pack-kan!

Then I made a few batches of Diana's Apom Polkadot =)

Ni pun seb bek ade pembantu bile tibe time nak membungkus.. klau tak, nangis gak la doing it all by myself..

By 2.45am, tho I wasn't sleepy (didn't dare to sleep sbb kul 5am dah nak gerak kan!) tp sgt la penat badan. Seriusly, sy tamau la amik order bnyk² klau akan penat gini. Wpun buat bnyk ni je punnnnn, mcm la buat beratus-ribu kaaaaannn hehe..

Ohh.. lupe plak.. atas permintaan pengantin, I made some cupcakes tp ni bkn utk hantaran or ape je.. Just for the family to eat shj~♥

Kuih Tok.. with love! ♥

It was late in the night, and her tummy was grumbling. Not really wanting to eat anything this late at night, she ignored her hunger and continued to read the book in her hand for a few more minutes before her tummy got the best of her.

Having not cooked for the whole day, she knew she had to whip up something simple but filling as she had no snacks her in kitchen cabinets. Pondering a while over what she had and how long her tummy was able to stand being hungry, her eyes fell upon the plain flour container she had on her fridge while an old memory of her Pah's kitchen came into her mind.

"Thats it, I'll make some kuih Tok!"

Not really remembering the exact measurements and ingredient, she whipped it up from memory. Well, Pah didn't actually use any exact measurements anyway too and the best, they say, is what you do using your instinct as your guide.

Right when the batter was ready, she heated up her frying pan with just a little bit of oil. Her batter was at just the right consistency.. or so she thought!

When the frying pan was at just about the right temperature, she poured in the batter carefully at just the right amount.. and then she waited.

She remembered, as a young girl living with both her Pah and Tok, she spent most of her mornings in the kitchen. Not that she was old enough to help anyway, but she just loved being with her Pah as she prepared the meals for the day. She'd wake up early and sit with her Tok as he had his breakfast of kuih Tok, as she called it, before he went to the mosque for his Subuh prayers. This was always his favourite breakfast, and it became the favourite breakfast for the whole family where even her cousins would request kuih Tok. Some would eat it with sugar, others with leftover curry from yesterday. But best of all was to eat it all by itself.

Darn!

Her first attempt of kuih Tok yielded a very thick one. Not at all like the ones her Pah used to make every morning. Oh well, it was still edible and there was still enough batter for another two pieces. This time, she spread the batter a bit farther than the previous one but, oh no! It wasn't all nice and round, instead it was a misshapen kuih Tok that she had on her pan and she just let it cook.

This time her memories bought her to a time when she was a bit older but the funny thing is, she was still in her Pah's kitchen. Only instead of the kitchen in the Bukit Chandan home, it was the kitchen in the Kg Menora home. This time she was in the kitchen with Pah and her cousin, Sayang. They were helping Pah make some kerisik.. well, at least they were TRYING to help anyway.

Both of them had a mortar and pestle each and she had her favourite one where the pestle was made from a river stone and was smooth to the touch. Pah had taught them how to pound the fried coconut shavings until its oil was released but somehow, no matter how hard she pounded, she never got anything out of it whereas Pah was already pounding her fifth batch of fried coconur shavings. Almost at tears, she tried to hide how frustrated she was when Pah took her mortar and help her to pound it and voila! In a matter of seconds her mortar was filled with the kerisik they wanted. And all the while Pah told her, she had helped a lot pounding it earlier.

She was shaken from her day dreaming by the smell of burnt flour mixture and quickly took out her second attempt from the pan.

Sigh!

She only had enough for a last one but even as she poured the rest of the batter in the pan, she knew she'd never make any kuih Tok as good as Pah's! It was all holey by her attempts to pour the batter more thinly and she felt a bit frustrated with herself.

And she remember, how in the 10 weeks she had stayed with Tok during her industrial training, not once had she offered to make some kuih Tok for her grandfather who must be missing the kuih Tok made by his beloved wife all those years ago before she started getting sick and eventually passed away. She had helped to prepare his breakfast and morning coffee everyday without fail, even made some attempt at Malay kuih for tea which her Tok lovingly finished no matter how tasteless it turned out to be (cucu punye pasal kaaann!) but she realized, she never did that favourite breakfast item they had both loved and shared when she was smaller and for a while, her eyes felt hot with tears threatening to fall out of her eyes.

As she sat at her dining table with her 3 failed attempts at making something she had loved from the time when she was a wee toddler, she offered a small prayer for both her grandparents who had looked after her full of love. She missed them so much and wished she still had the chance to tell them how much she loved them.

If only she had the chance for another breakfast with the both of them with kuih Tok made by her Pah..

AlFatihah

Tgk kuih pun buleh nostalgic~

Yesterday me and Arep did our usual 'penjelajahan bazaar Ramadhan'. This time we went to the one in Nibong Tebal. Truthfully, I never knew there was one in Nibong Tebal. It was in front of Yawata and was really small, about 20 stalls only.. no, scratch that, tak sampai 20 pun rasenye..

..and they have this really nice roti kirai with yummy curry. Definitely nak pegi lagi ☺

Anyway, at one of the stalls, I saw this..

Kuih sagu. Yeah, I know, ape la yg unique sgt ngan kuih sagu tu kan.. but it kinda reminded me of someone we lost 7 Syawals ago.

When I was doing my industrial training (LI), I stayed with my late grandfather since the company I was attached to was doing a bridge across the Sg Perak and right in Kuala Kangsar. He was already quite elderly then, around 80 I think.. ke lebih lagi ye?

My daily routine was to wake up for Subuh and get ready. Then I'd go to the kitchen to make Tok's kopi kampung (what us kids called the strong coffee that is NOT instant like Nescafe), a whole flask of it. I'd take it with a fresh cup and some breakfast to his room before going for my LI. Then wehn I came back in the afternnon, I'd usually buy some kuih or banana fritters for our tea I'll then rest before getting ready for Maghrib and dinner. Sometimes Tok would come down but most of the time he'd stay in his room since he wasn't really that strong anymore. After dinner I'd talk with him a bit before he reitred and I'd watch tv till I was sleepy.

On weekends was a different matter. I'd have some time on my hands and would do most of the cooking (mcm la terre kan, bodo² je buleh la..)

One day, I came with this idea to make some kuih sagu. I liked that kuih when I was smaller and since the theory of making it seemed so simple, I decided to make some. My cousin watched me do it (budak laki kan) and we were excited of the outcome since I never really made any traditional kuih before..

When it was ready, I cut it up and rolled it into some coconut and immediately served it to Tok.. and I didn't even taste it since I was still full from lunch. Tok finished it and asked for more while telling me it was, "Sedap!"

I was really happy and gave him more. It was only late in the afternoon when I finally tasted it and OMG! Was I soooooo embarassed!

You see, my family doesn't really take much sugar even when we were smaller (thus the reason my housemate called me 'kedekut gula') so when making it, I thought I had used A LOT of sugar. I repeat, A LOT! But it turned out, my kuih sagu was tasteless.. didn't have even a hint of sweetness!

Malunye Tuhan je yg tau and when Tok asked for more that night, I cringed when I asked him, "Tawar ek sy buat, Tok?"

He smiled at me and told me he never tasted anything more delicious than mine and proceeded to finish it all up..

Demi cucu dia yg tak pandai masak itu..

Alamak.. tetibe rase nak nangis. I miss him soooo much. When we came back from UK, he used to talk to us in English, maybe he was afraid we'd forgotten how to talk in Malay la kot.. and he still cut my chicken/meat/fish into small pieces and arranged them around my plate when I was already in primary school. He was always interested in what I WANTED to do insteadof asking me to do what he wants me to do and he always asked my opinion on the suppliments he took, even though he knew I was studying engineering NOT medicine.

He was so proud of me when I graduated and when I showed him the pictures of my convo, he asked a lot of questions. When I stayed with him, he used to ask about what I did and never judged me on my answers. When I didn't have any money during my stay there, he gave me some and made sure I had enough everyday, even gave me more for 'just in case'

I remember when me and my cousin, abg Sher were scolded by him haha.. Served us right as we were in our late teens already by then and still dok main tak senonoh. Know what we did? I'd go take my wudhu and my cousin would touch me just to batalkan. Then I'd do it to him too and we'd end up laughing so much until we heard a voice say, "Kome dah beso!" Opsss.. terdiam trus kitorg and tak berani dah main² camtu depan dia.

What I regret the most was the last time I went back before he moved on, I didn't salam him. This was because I had planned to go back to early but since all my aunties were home, I didn't realize we were talking way up to 11pm. Then kelam kabut la I wanted to go home and I didn't salam him since I thought he was already asleep and also because I know he would be worried about me if he knew I was doing an hour-and-half trip alone at night. The next news I got was from Mama who told me Tok was being strange a few day later. He was asking for Chendol kat Lembah and he finished it and asked for more, when before this, he couldn't even finish a pack.

He left us as I was on the way rushing back to Kuala Kangsar and I didn't get to say goodbye :(

I stayed beside him through the night reciting the Quran and the next day, ALL OF HIS GRANDSONs (except one!) bathed him. It was a beautiful sight and even the men from the masjid wept. They didn't have to do a thing except guide my brothers and male cousins on the proper way to bathea and kafan him. I'm sure Tok was happy too..

I really miss him a lot, especially now in Ramadhan. I hope that he is surrounded by Allah blessing always.. Al Fatihah!

Adieanna ~ Nikah version

Now this is an even more basi entry when compared to my World Cup finals one haha.. takpe lah, better late than never kot?!?

On the 29th of May, my brother finally joined the ranks of 'laki orang' haha.. He hadn't eaten for days (as opposed to makan bnyk on normal days) and was trying his best to hide how nervous he really was.

That morning, after helping out with the final touches of the hantaran, he started to get ready. The chosen colour for the solemnization was turqoise so he had on a nice baju melayu with matching sampin. But Adi being Adi just couldn't resist playing around macam bukan dia yg nak kawen dalam mase sejam lagik tu, he just had to pose Lat cartoon style with his sampin.. cehhh!

Next, while waiting for everyone, we managed to take a group photo of our family as Adi puts it, "Mase I masih bujang!"

Then we girls of the family took a photo with Ana as I put it, "Mase Ana masih anak dara" Heheh..

At the FRIM mosque, we had to wait for a while for everyone to assemble so here's Ana amidst the hantaran she was giving to Adi..

While waiting, masih jugak sempat posing. Here's me and Adi yg masih cube menyembunyikan kenevesannye!

Then me, Adi, Izati and Imran (whom I just picked up from the floor. Suke giler budak tu merangkak sane sini time tu)

..and Adi with Ikram and Iskandar. Sambil menjeling the bekas cincin in Ikram's hand haha..

After everyone was ready, the official engagement was carried out. Here's Mama putting the ring on Ana's finger.

Then, it was TIME!

Still, we had to wait for the Tok Kadi for quite a while before he arrived. Sempat la kot Adi nak ilang neves kot? Ikram was acting as his second man here.. ntah ape tah adik beradik duorang ni dok bersembang time ni?

And.. the moment Adi became SUAMI ORANG! *clap²*

Actually, time ni sy plak nak nangis haha.. why?

Then Adi came to put the ring on his WIFE'S finger and Ana kissing her HUSBAND'S hands ♥

Sudah selamat!! ☺

So here's the blushing bride.. my adik ipar, ok!

And here's the letter confirming it hehe.. which Iskandar bought back to Penang by mistake. Dan terpakse la pos ke KL balik hehe..

Adi with his best buddy, Adin (sorg lagi sy tak kenal) Kawan dari TI tuuuuu.. kawen pun beze seminggu je with each other hehe..

And finally, the bride and bridegroom yg menunjukkan muke poyo sebab dah kawen =p

Hahah, ok la. Sy ngelat, this entry more photos than me describing what happened kan? But whatever pun, it ws one of the best days in our lives. First time welcoming someone into the family.. Welcome ye Ana ☺

And the song dedicated for this entry is also featured in soundtrack kawen Ayu ye haha..

The strands in your eyes that color them wonderful
Stop me and steal my breath
Emeralds from mountains thrust toward the sky
Never revealing their depth

Tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love
I'll be captivated
I'll hang from your lips
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above

Chorus:
I'll be your crying shoulder
I'll be your love suicide
and I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life

Rain falls angry on the tin roof
As we lie awake in my bed
You're my survival, you're my living proof
My love is alive not dead

Tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love
I'll be captivated
I'll hang from your lips
Instead of the gallows of heartache, that hang from above

Repeat Chorus

I've been dropped out, burned up, fought my way back from the dead
Tuned in, turned on,
Remembered the things that you said

Repeat Chorus

Adieanna ~ Hantaran version

Yes, I know.. I know.. like my PhD, I've also been procastinating on the entry of the first big family event hehe..

Its a month and a day now since I officially gained a new sister. Suke² hehe.. but too many photos to choose from and too little time kan so I decided to separate the whole 'event' into a few parts with this one being the 'hantaran version' one. So here goes..

Actually a few months before, I asked Adi, "You nak theme mcmmane utk hantaran?" With 'theme mcmmane' tu meaning, what colour do you want. His reply was simple: PIRATE!

Terlompat kak Yong dia bile dgr.. adeh! I tau la dia nye keje is in the creative side, tp kakak dia ni tak penah wat hantaran langsung. Setakat tolong² kawan ade la, but to do something dgn theme pelik..

I was like,"You ingat ni birthday party ke nak theme pirate²" and he laughed sbb he was so sure of what he wanted. He could even describe to me a bit of what he wanted and since he was so confident with his choice, sedikit sebanyak sy mencair jugak mengikut kehendak dia.. Aissshhh Adi, sib baik sayang! Klau tak, I buh je lalang bnyk² kat your hantaran hehe..

Nevertheless, in the months after that, I still tried to pujuk² him to go with normal themes (normal to me is gune kotak plastic then lekat je ribbon² ikut theme colour.. yes, I'm THAT uncreative hehe..) but tak berjaya as Adi insisted on what he had already envisioned..

I arrived at Adi's doorsteps on the Wednesday before the wedding. Since it was noon, we went out for lunch with Ana as they were choosing the picture for their guestbook.. here's a pre-wedding photo of them from me (tanpe posing² bagai)..

Back at Adi's home, we assembled the things we already had for the hantaran while making a list of what we needed to go find. Sambil² tu dia menayang his guitar yang asalnye was supposed to be hantaran from Ana to him hehe.. tp last minute was canceled sbb they weren't sure how the elders would make of it. Ni gambo Adi tgh nyanyi kat Ana.. tp ngan suare cartoon.. cittt!

The next day, me and Adi went to go find the things for his theme. We had to find seashells (the theme dah di 'soft'kan sikit dari PIRATE kepade TREASURE CHEST.. Alhamdulillah! Heheh..), sand, 'fishnets' and others. Luckily the treasure chests diorg dah belikan beforehand ☺ Then we picked up Izati kat Mines (?) and had some lunch before sambung shopping. Nak tau ape Adi belanje..

Heheh.. suke!!

We went back to Adi's place dah dekat malam then singgah to one kedai near Adi's house. Ini muke bdk² yg penat bershopping sepanjang hari..

So mlm tu, pas mandi, we went to Ami's kejap. Dekat je rumah Ami and Adi. Suke giler jumpe mak buyut tu hehe.. mule la ckp bnyk tak berhenti and Kimin pun mesti pening tgk bdk² ni non-stop bercakap. Adi yg tak lalu makan pun leh habis mkn bubur kacang Ami, so sile lah bangge ye, Ami!

Then balik tu baru mule with Adi's hantaran. Silap, esok pagi baru mule tp mlm tu getting ready la ngan Annisa pun tolong sekali tamau tido sbb nak 'tolong Alang' haha.. Izati suh dia tido pun dia bleh 'telan' balik her yawn sbb nak tunjuk kat Izati yg dia tak ngantuk hehe..

So this was our first try..

..pakai letak je ni dulu coz we wanted to 'budget' how many choc coins to use and how we were supposed to put the 'diamonds and gemstones'. We had bought some flower thingeys jugak but in the end decided not to use them sbb cam terkelur from the theme. Haha.. okay what for first timers?!?!

Then we decided to assemble main² plak coz Adi kuciwe his guitar tak dpt dijadikan hantaran, so nak amik ati la and berlakon like it is the hantaran.. though terbalik la skit kan sbb we were making the ones to be given to Ana hehe..

The next morning, at FRIM itself baru we gam btul² and lekat btul² and susun btul² all we needed for the hantarans. Pas Subuh, me, Adi and Izati gathered in the living room of the guesthouse to prepare the hantaran, dibantu Imran yg jugak nak membantu kakak² n abang dia itu. So this was what us first-timers managed to do..

Ahahah.. sudah semestinye sy mau letak sy punye cookies. Butter cookies je, not gingerbread man and woman.. but special punye sbb for Wedding Edition. Tuxedo tu terpakse direfer pade lukisan Adi coz I couldn't imagine it offhand.

This one plak, the bottle ala 'message in a bottle' ngan cheque hantaran di dalam and the cute treasure chest was the bekas cincin, courtesy of Feringghi Nite Market ♥

This one is makeup from Body Shop..

..telekung yg kitorg tak pandai nak gubah jadik bunge so just ikat ngan ribbon. Sgt la tak kreatip, sib baik Adi and Ana tak kisah huhu..

..dan ini pule perfume from J-Lo. Ana especially picked it sbb the bottle cam kene je with the theme ☺

..and iPhone (sbb masing² mmg nak tuko phone baru pun hehe..)

..and the duit mas kahwin. The pearl (yg tak nmpk itu tp nak bgtau jugak) in the shell kat atas tu real peral tau. Taken from my pearl bracelet yang putus aritu ☻

Satu bende yang sy tak tahan is the sirih junjung. I ni hantaran tu mcm penah la jugak tolong² but the sirih junjung mmg tak penah. Jenuh la pagi tu baru carik idea nak buat and we only had the white stand and a block of sponge. Hentam je la me n Izati and the result..

Heheh.. actually Salleh told me, you have to choose sirih that the 'urat' are symetrical when you fold it in half. Me n Izati only chose sirih with the same size haha.. adeh! Ini lah org yg tatau tp kene wat jugak for tradition sake.

All in all, okay gak kot kan? Heheh.. Adi was happy his vision agak menjadi and I terpakse akur lah ngan org² yg otak mmg lebih camtu. Who am I to say bende tu takkan jadi sedangkan I sendiri bkn org yg creative kan hehe..

Next edition: The akad nikah! Oh ye, ni satu lagu for them that I think sgt appropriate ♥

From this moment life has begun
From this moment you are the one
Right beside you is where I belong
From this moment on

From this moment I have been blessed
I live only for your happiness
And for your love
I'd give my last breath
From this moment on

I give my hand to you with all my heart
Can't wait to live my life with you
Can't wait to start
You and I will never be apart
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you
I promise you this
There is nothing I wouldn't give
From this moment on

You're the reason I believe in love
And you're the answer to my prayers from up above
All we need is just the two of us
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you I promise you this
There is nothing I wouldn't give
From this moment
I will love you
As long as I live
From this moment on
Mmmmmmm

The one who makes me smile ☺

Okay.. enough!

From the day of my previous entry, the troublemaker has been looking for, what else, trouble with all of us non-stop. My patience hasn't gotten the best of me yet but who knows..

So today, whilst I have so mane other things to update, I wanna share a photo that instantly makes me smile (and not only me ☺)

Tadaaa..
This is my youngest brother Imran.. the one 'who took my favourite name'..

The reason why I like this photo? Well, obviously we love him la kaannn.. but the other reason is because this is THE ONLY picture of him with a hint of a smile haha.. he's actually a VERY HAPPY baby and very easy to mind. He rally loves to smile and laugh BUT when it comes to cameras, he usually scrunches up his forehead and frowns.. its so hard to take a picture of him until this one ☺

It was taken by Iskandar during Adi and Ana's akad nikah. I was suprised to find this photo amidst all the photos taken that day and even Umi was happy with this picture.

..and since he's a really good brother who's so easy to mind, it really makes me smile to have this picture in my possesion.

I just hope he smiles so much more for the cameras next time ♥

Ayu yg kecik² dah pandai mengade haha..

Recently I came across old photos of us when we were smaller. Feeling a bit nostalgic, I pasted those phots in my FB account and received a lot of responses on them. The one I won't forget is from Ana when she asked, "Kenape semua baju same?"

At first I was astounded that she noticed. But then I found myself laughing at myself on the 'story behind the same sweaters'..

You see; me, Iwan and Adi are only a year apart each. Added to tha fact that both our parents were busy students when we were smaller, it made us quite close. Close enough that, though I always wanted a sister, I sometimes forgot I was a girl haha..

We always had the same clothes, with Mam and Abah buying us mostly Ladybirds unisex clothes (usually t-shirt and shorts combo) where mine would be pink while the boys (what we used to refer to Iwan and Adi.. even after Ikram and Iskandar came into the scene) would get any boy-coloured one (very biased kan my ayat haha..)

My most memorable one is my pink combo of side-striped shorts with matching striped t-shirts where mine was pink and grey, Iwan's red and blue and Adi's grey and navy. I think I have the picture somewhere..

Anyway, duirng the time we were to come back here, this sweater was almost famous amongst the Malaysian. I pun tatau nape.. Joe had one, Aizuddin had one too (I think) and almost every boy we knew had one so naturally, Iwan and Adi wanted one.

I took for granted the fact that I'd get what the boys got so imagine my suprise when Abah only bought it for the boys.. I just burst into tears!

It took a lot of pujuking on my parents part haha.. and even though in the end I stopped crying, I still felt left out but I chose to pretend it didn't matter (kecik² dah pandai berlakon kannn!) The boy would wear the sweater (it had a pictue of an aircraft in front) with our friends and I'd be so full with envy whilst I wore my seldom-worn skirts.

Still, one day Abah told me they had a suprise for me. Still sulking inside, I wasn't really looking forward to a suprise. Especially since it was only for me and not for the boys, somehow, it didn't feel right. Until..

Tadaaaa! I was so suprised in seeing that they had bought the same sweater for me in the end. Giler happy, Tuhan je yg tau..

..such that the next time it was time to take school pictures, the three of us decided to wear our sweaters proudly.

I didn't even feel like a boy in it even when most of the kids in school wearing the same sweater were boys hahah..

Mengade kan sy? Hehe.. ;p

Do I LOOK like one?

Though I don't have any constant guy in my life, I DO have 2 permanent Irfans in it..

One is my brother..

..and the other is my close friends son.

One is already 2 years old, the other will be 2 next month, same month as me ☺

One similarity though..

The past long weekend, I met both of them.

My brother, Irfan, cheeky! Ade ke he insisted on calling me Aunty Ayong the whole time. Penat tau ajo dia KAK YONG which he'd use for a minute before switching to the much preferred Aunty Ayong. Apa raaaaa adikku ini..

My future-boyfriend, Irfan (IF I still don't have any contant guy in my future hahah.. ngamuk Bai!) pulak, sbb dah lame tak jumpe and jarang pun jumpe, termalu² dia jumpe KAK AYU dia yg kiut-miut ni. And while I was busy teaching him to call me KAK AYU and his mother busy telling him to call me MAK CIK, he gave one look at me and suddenly blurted out, "AUNTY MOO!"

AUNTY MOO?!?!

Hambik ko Ayu, suke sgt kumpul bende² lembu kannn.. or does he think I look like a cow?!?! *gasps*

Hahah..

Still.. Dude, do I look like an AUNTY?!?!?
