Ridiculous!

A junior of mine (name witheld) started selling some hijab with his girlfriend and since he was close to me, he asked me to go look at the tudungs and see if I was interested. I've long since bought any new tudung and thought, what the heck, it won't hurt to look at them, would it?

But before that, Hasz also came to me to look at some hijab she was also selling and since I'm the type who wears her hijab till it is no longer considered wearable (my current ones were mostly bought in 2002 hahah..) and I am very, very, very lazy when it comes to shopping, I thought I'd go look at both.

Hmm, impressive collection of hijab, I mused, BEFORE looking at the price. You know, my hijabs (esp. the 2002 ones) are mostly in the range of RM30-RM35 ONLY. Imagine my suprise when most of these tudungs were sold at RM45!

Ridiculous!

Well, granted they had the crystal thingeys.. but hey! I don't actually need those crystal thingeys, thank you very much! Susah nak iron je nnt, nyusahkan experience meng'iron'.. not to mention, leceh nak jage..

And me, the girl who NEVER bought hijabs with those strings of crystal (I even argued with Farah during Ramadhan when she insisted I buy at least ONE of those kinda hijabs) suddenly found myself with only these kinda hijabs that have my choice of colour.. sheesh!

Then I went to see Salleh's collection which was quite the same but more expensive (but unfortunately, his collection was more impressive haha..) The most expensive one was RM75! Granted, again, that it had this neat beads alongside the crystal thingeys but geez! RM75?!?!

You know, for my baju kurungs, the normal costs are
Fabric: RM 40
Seamstress 'fee': RM 25
Total: RM 65

..and I still have RM10 extra when compared to the RM75 hijab!

Ridiculous.. don't you agree?

Tudung lagi mahal dari baju.. ridiculous!

Know what's more ridiculous?!?! I bought two RM45 hijabs from Has and another two RM75 ones from Salleh!

Kesimpulannye: Dalam entry ni, Ayu paling ridiculous!!!!

P/S Please take note that Ayu is the ONLY person on earth who thinks those prices are ridiculous! Turns out, most 'perempuan' think the price is okay and Ayu semakin konpius :(

Lives in Pendang, Kedah and pretends that he goes for korban during Aidiladha when he's actually afraid of blood. Drives a Satria and is very manja with his mum. Yeah, we actually bored the hell outta each other when we had to go for data collection so there's a lot more facts from where that came from!

I'm sooo sleepy..

Came in early this morning after breakfast with kak Yun and after a few minutes being alone in this room, abg Fadzil arrived. The picture above is from the suprise birthday celebration for both abg Fadzil and Sharil held at the end of December. Picture a bit blur coz its taken with abg Fadzil's new phone (which kak Nor had given him hehe..), my camera takde battery so had to make due with the phone. Huhu, takde ati nak citer sangat pasal celebration sbb dah lame sgt. Enough to say that it was the only reason for me to buy an ice-cream cake heheh <--kempunan lame dah, sib baik ade birthday diorg!

Speaking of birthdays, today is kak Ja's birthday. I dunno what her age is but I wished her a happy 16th birthday heheh..

Tuesday saw me going to kak Shima's with kak Yun. Kak Shima wanted to treat us to a night out :D Went for dinner at Damiral's (one of my favourite places) where I ate Fish Corden Bleu (cam salah eje jek). hmm, I think I like the chicken one better (notice how I'm avoiding to spell that word again heheh..). Then we headed to Sunway to catch Sweeney Todd, my first time watching a movie there. Terase dah lame tak tgk wayang.. The movie was ok la, it was a musical so wasn't that scary la.. maybe a bit revolting la coz the blood cam air paip jek.. but it was Johnny Depp :D

Then me and kak Shima (kak Yun tido) stayed up watching this Korean ke Japanese series ntah and the next morning we had breakfast at the kopitiam nearby. Ok la, dah lame tak kuar, felt a bit refreshing..

Slept at kak Yun's yesterday. She didn't wanna be alone for a few reasons. I agreed and went there after my night class. She slept early so I was left with the tv before I went to iron my clothes and retire. Mase tgh iron, I remembered when Dr Naiem lived in this house and he complained of ghosts disturbing him and his family. For a while, kecut gak hehe.. Especially when I switched off the light and the room went pitch black.. but before long I was already dozing off. Heheh, the excitement of the day finally got to me, eh..

I think I'm gonna go home in an hour's time. Its 10.38am already and I'm still sleepy.. I think I'll go get a few winks la..

To poetry or to not poetry..

You know, a few months ago, being a bit bored outta my wits while doing data collection for Dr Razip (it was supposed to be about the vibration of this building.. cam menarik kan? Prob is, tak gegaq puuuuuuunnnn.. cisss!!), I decided to type in this first verse of a song and sms to some of my friends. The song is an OST from the movie Over It (or something like that!) and sung by Kirsten Dunst.

Let me sleep for when I sleep I dream that you are here, you're mine, and all my
fears are left behind.. I float on air, the nightangel sings gentle lullabies,
so let me close my eyes.. and sleep per chance to dream, so I can see the face I
long to touch.. to kiss.. but only dreams can bring me this. So let, the moon
shine softly on the boy I long to see.. and maybe when he dreams, he dreams of
me..

And to my amusement, most of my friends thought I had penned that verse myself hahah.. This is not actually suprising to me as a few years ago, I had put kak Zai's poem in my blog and a lot of my friends told me to stop pretending it was a 'kak Zai' who wrote it and just admit it was my own poem. God, I laughed a lot while trying to explain that I DON'T WRITE POEMS but somehow, people tend to think that I do.

Well, ok.. maybe I wrote a poem ONCE. It isn't even a poem, more like a doggerel than a poem and I just did it just to tease my classmates. You see, we were in form 5 and tired of studying. We were the first science stream batch in our school and though I won't admit it then, the pressure was something all of us felt as we had our school's reputation to maintain.

One Friday, during the end of the day when most of us were a bit cranky and all that, all of us did something to cheer each other up. Ami went in her usual clown mode while some of us sang. Others took out prohibited comic books (while pretending we didn't see kak Da glaring at us for breaking the rules). I was a bit bored since I'd already finished with the comics and had already heard Ami's joke (We've been fast friends since form 1 so I usually know what she's gonna say :)).

Suddenly a not-so-brilliant inspiration came over me and I took over the blackboard while writing my first and last doggerel ever haha.. you know like the pantun's of classmates we usually get in our year books? Well, that was what I did but in english and with 6 lines in a verse while I chanted it in a sing-song voice. When I had finished, I had covered the black board with my writings (we only had 15 students in my class but since I was writing 6-line verses, no wonder la the blackboard was full of it!)

It wasn't an excellent effort and most of my friends were just amused or confused.. a bit annoyed kot for them yang 'terkene' hehe.. but my poem a.k.a lame doggerel was left on the board till Monday, when some teachers had read it (well, MAYBE a few teachers' names were tossed into it too :D).

As I said, it wasn't good, I'm not much into literature, but my classmates must've left it on the board just to amuse me or maybe because they didn't wanna anger the class monitor, huh? Heheh..

Still, I wish I had written it down though.. I'm suddenly wondering WHAT DID I write down that day.. :)

Anyway, why did this suddenly come to me? Truth is, a few days ago I went blog hopping and came across this poem..

This poem I 'curik' from Mael's (Adi's friend) blog and it actually suprised me to see a poem from him as he doesn't seem like the type to write poems..

Made me wonder though: People always think I can do poetry when I suck at it but sometimes, I DO wonder if I could write one. Like when kak Zai showed me her poems (including the one I had published in one of my blogs), to her, everyone could write poems. There's actually this poem I'd like to share, one she did for her students which left me in stitches but I can't find where I had saved it so maybe I'll publish it later.

Bukan apa ayu, setiap kali sapa saja yang tengok album gambar masa sekolah, mesti semua akan tanya nih sapa?.. heheh ayulah tu.. nape semua orang asyik tanyakan dia.. sebab dia suka jelirkan lidah masa ambil gambar.. n then ani cakaplah itu ketua kelas kitorang.. senang nak cam kan .. ani pun sampai dah lali bila orang asyik tanya sapa tu.. tak payah pergi tgk pun gambar yang mana satu.. dari jauh ani dah tahu mesti tengok gambar kelas kitalah tu.. masa ayu tengah jelir lidah kat mr. chan...

Ayu, jangan marah na ayu, nanti kena jual.. kalau lah saya boleh scan gambar tu n then letak dlm entry nih..

Another milestone (to remind me i'm getting old *gasps*)

Ok.. why is a picture of Tupperwares doing in my blog?

Answer: These are my FIRST EVER Tupperware! :D

Hahah.. This is actually the first time I ever bought my own Tupperware. When I was smaller, I was always scolded by Mama for losing her Tupperware. From water tumblers (eversince standard 1, I must've lost on average, two per year), to sandwich containers to her most prized cake display container (which I lost during Hari Keusahawanan in form 2.. Tupperware paling mahal Ayu penah bg ilang heheh..).

When I was in form 5, Mama gave me this very cute Tupperware tumbler for me to use in school and I loved it and used it everyday.. though how I managed to not lose it, Ayu pun tatau heheh.. I still have it now and its still as good as ever.

From then on, Mama was always wary whenever she 'lended' (ade ke perkataan ni?) me her Tupperwares sbb biasenye akan ilang la.. or like now, I don't actually lose it, but I don't really give it back hehe.. byk gune nye ooooooo! Besides, Mama doesn't use them much now heheh..

Anyway, for me, whenever I needed containers, I'd usually buy the cheap ones sold in the local supermarket. You know, the RM2-RM3 ones. This way, if I lose them, I won't actually feel the loss that much. However, Irnis just became a Tupperware dealer and for the past few months, she's been showing us her catalogue every few weeks.

First it was Remy who bought a water container from her. Then, with the thought of just browsing, I went through the catalogue and found this irrisistable offer for Freezer Mates which was down to only 60% or so of the normal price.. and yes, since I now have MY OWN fridge, or course la jadik perak skit, wanting to kunun² organize my fridge like an adult hahah..

Then a few pages after that, there was this sandwich container resembling the ones I had lost during school (except now the colours were more pastel-like) thus making me laugh at the memory and before I knew it, I had ordered the whole set too.. for practical purposes! (Yeah right Ayu, keep convincing yourself of that 'fact' ok heheh..)

When Irnis handed me my order, I was over the moon, wanting so much to call Mama and tell her, "I JUST BOUGHT MY VERY FIRST TUPPERWARE!" (And I know she'd just roll her eyes like when I told her about buying my first TV and fridge hahaha.. <--so very 'matured' la you ni, Ayu! Heheh..)

It was when I excitedly showed Farah my purchases (hey! Bleh la berlagak ngan dia, she still uses HER MOTHER's Tupperware heheh..) that it suddenly struck me..

Ughhh.. rase cam org tue plak beli² Tupperware ni!

Exhausted..

Feeling kinda sleepy and tired today. I couldn't even get outta the bed this morning and the fact that Dr Farhan didn't follow us back here from KL yesterday made me feel even more comfy in my bed.

I only managed to force myself outta the bed at 11 hahah.. imagine that! Tu pun bcoz I just remembered that I had to pick up the progress report I left at the photocopy shop a couple of days ago before we went to KL. But then, that being it a Friday and knowing the lunch hour ends end 2.45pm made me delay my shower for a bit more longer while I lazed around in front of the tv..

A tak-sedar-diri kinda perangai if you ask me hahah..

You see, in the workshop yesterday, I suddenly realized one thing: WHAT THE HELL DID I GET MYSELF INTO?

Sheesh! I AM feeling a bit more stupid that I initially thought I was and I came outta the workshop even more blurry then before it.. yikes!!!!

The only thing on my mind right now is: Did I take the right decision when I decided to continue with my studies?

I'm seroiusly in doubt now :(

Monday morning, and I'm already counting the days to Saturday hahah.. Ayu sangat teruk!

Had an 'ok²' weekend. On Saturday I had my 1st form 3 class of the year (very quiet students) then had a form 1 class (very studious.. and I'm suprised hahah.. form 1's usually are too playful!). After a quick rest at home, I drove to Bagan Serai for my night class of form 2. Yeah! Ade ke Cikgu Arun bg KELAS MALAM TIME WEEKEND!!! MARAH LE NI.. I mean, its only on weekend nights that I get to go out, catch a movie or something.. hahah, not that I've been watching movies that much anyway <--alasan je tu tak puas hati ade kelas malam Ahad!

Form 2 class was mainly my old students so at least I enjoyed la the class. Had a few new students too and for the first impression, they were ok. Hmm.. so the only class I haven't met is my form 1 class in Bagan Serai yet since I wasn't well on the first call..

But then again..

I won't be able to meet them yet this week too. We'll be having this seminar cum workshop in KL on Thursday so on Wednesday itself we'd be going there (so once again my students won't know who Cikgu Ayu is yet.. *sigh*)

Which is also the reason I'm staring at my screen. I'm supposed to do a presentation on my progress but I have no idea on what to do. I mean, I'm the newbie here and I feel as if whatever I present, ALL the other ones already know.. Kak Shedar, kak Suria, kak Siti and Ho have been involved for more than a year so I feel as if I dunno what is it that I can contribute hahah.. and kak Win, like me, also doesn't know what to present. The seminar is on sustainable transport and her M.Sc thesis, as I recall, does not involve this sustainable transport so we're both kinda clueless for whatevers gonna happen this Thursday.

Then, this is my first time taking care of all the hotel and ticket booking. Usually we have other RO's doing it but since I'm the only RO in this new project, I've learnt quite a lot of things I thought I never have to do heheh.. Lucky for me, kak Hafsah readily gives out a helping hand in preparing the PO and calling the travel agent for the tickets so basically, I just give the details to her and make sure I'm beside her (she won't let me outta her sight!) while she does all the hard work :D

But then again, its still kinda tiring. Having people 'requesting' certain flight arrangements and having to think of who's staying with whom (Dr Farhan kindly paid for the room, but not everyone wants to share), then having people cancelling their flight tickets coz they wanna drive BUT they also think I'm the one to do their travel claims. Excuse me, but I'm an RO, not your bloody secretary! I dunno.. its a bit.. annoying I think! Haha, ok, maybe its because Dr Farhan told them to contact me for anything la kot.. so I'm not supposed to complain (?)

On top of that, my voice is still like a 'kambing sakit perut' and I'm starting to cough again. Sheesh!

Ok.. its only a week in the new year and I'm already complaining, huh hehehe..

Hey.. I DO have something to good to talk about. Yesterday I went to Pt Buntar to buy some supplies. Then remembering I hadn't eaten my lunch when it was already around 4.15pm, I decided to just grab a burger from KFC. As I was lining up, I thought I heard someone saying 'cikgu' but I just ignored it.

But then, feeling a bit 'strange' after an awkward moment, I decided to turn around to find no one there and just as I was turning back to the front, I noticed a boy just trying to grab my attention by going back to my back.. like we were playing peek-a-boo. It was Nabil (I once wrote about him here--> http://ayuikhwani.blogspot.com/2006/12/my-young-chargers.html)! One of my students who once laughed about me being 26 as I had written here --> http://ayuikhwani.blogspot.com/2007/01/my-young-chargers-pt2.html.

We talked a bit and I was suprised he remembered me as I only taught him for the 6 weeks of school holidays as he was from a boarding school and didn't take the normal year-round classes we have here, He laughed listening to my voice, remembering that last year I had also once lost my voice whilst teaching them (though more severe la than this year punye) and they had to go a week with me teaching without my 'proper' voice.. It was funny when he kept calling me 'akak eh, cikgu' hahahah..

Well, I guess thats all for now. I'd like to write about my new years resolution but I think I'd better start on my presentation now.. chiao!

1st day after New Years

Its the second day of the year, and supposedly the first day for my class this year. However, due to the virus, I had to ask for a replacement *sigh*

I'd already went back early on Monday and slept the whole afternoon, then slept the whole of yesterday morning till I feel as if I could never sleep again.. sakit pale oooo! Then, feeling like I NEED to make myself sweat a bit, I went out to find things for a Trifle Pudding (and oh yes did I sweat.. gile sumer kedai tak jual dah instant Lady's Choice jelly. I went from Econsave to Billion to Minat then to the grocery store near my house, then to the 5 grocery stores in Taman Pekaka-by walking, mind you- and the 7-11 nearby. I had given up but then that afternoon after watching Dr Seuss's The Cat in The Hat, decided to head off to Yawata at Nibong Tebal and voila! I finally found it :)) then spent the night preparing them.. and felt a little bit better after that (OMG! Did I feel better coz I had transferred all my viruses in thos puddings? Heheh..)

Still, though I'm no longer feverish, my voice hasn't exactly come back altogether for me so I had to cancel my class, and I'm feeling a bit annoyed at that coz I always think the first class is the most important one (Yeah, righttt!)

Hmm.. anyway, while being cooped up at home when I wasn't well the past few days, I noticed this song on the radio.. and I kinda like it..
